We planned to drive here from Vegas for a guided hike at 2:30pm. We left Vegas at 7:45am and arrived at 3:30pm. We waited in a car line for over 2 hours to pay $35 to get into the park. They accept credit or debit only and do not accept AMEX or cash. The payment process is slow. It would be nice to have an option to prepay and scan a code for quicker entry. I hope someone on the park leadership team is working to improve this antiquated, slow payment process.

This stone entrance sign is the perfect place to mark the start of your Grand Canyon adventure. The design blends beautifully with the red rock surroundings and features the classic National Park Service emblem and World Heritage Site plaque. There’s a small pull-off area with enough space to park safely and take photos. It can get busy during peak hours, but the wait is worth it for a great family picture.
