A super solid trail. 10 miles round trip if you’re just going for the bottom. Down for 80% of the way to the river, so be prepared for a push to get back up. First couple of miles is down with nicely made trails compliments of old miners. Some of the best steep switch back trails I’ve ever seen. 3rd mile is quite technical with gives the trail a lot of flair imo, made the trail exciting and challenging. Last part was fairly flat before descending the mesa. I also visited the last chance mine at the trail T before the mesa and I would highly recommend doing that if you have the time. It’s a glorious decent that will test you if you’ve never raw dogged a mesa wall decent before. The mines are also super cool, and while you can’t go into them, it’s still super cool to see. If you only had time for either the mines or the mesa decent to the valley I would go for the mines. As the decent to the river is long and fairly boring. Don’t miss this hike, 100% worth your time. Only 5 hikers on the trail in November, mild snow the first half mile.

Very awesome and historic mining trail! There are many awesome sights along the way! It gives you many great views of the canyon! This is quite a difficult hike however, and is only recommended for experienced hikers. This mine has many dangerous parts, and at points, is only around 18 inches wide right next to huge dropoffs. This trail was also quite snowy and slippery when we went during spring break, so make sure you have the proper gear when you hike this trail. Highly recommend this trail if you are an experienced hiker and are in the grand canyon. The views are hard to beat, and the secludedness of the trail is nice as well.

Spent the day on one of the most epic hikes ever! Grandview Point down to Horseshoe Mesa. The hike itself was fun going down, a bit grueling on the way up, but totally worth it. So many amazing viewpoints along the trail. Grand Canyon is extraordinary. The further down you go the more immense it becomes. Near Horseshoe Mesa we even encountered a radiation zone. Apparently, they used to drill for uranium down here. Horseshoe Mesa itself held a few surprises of its own. There were a number of small caves we explored as well as an old mining shelter long since abandoned. All in all, it was an extraordinary day of adventure.
