If you’re visiting the Grand Canyon, do not miss sunset at Hopi Point. It’s hands-down one of the most breathtaking spots on the South Rim to watch the sun dip behind the canyon walls. The panoramic views seem to stretch endlessly, and the colors—deep oranges, purples, and pinks—dance across the layered rock formations like a painting coming to life.

I arrived about 30 minutes before sunset to grab a good spot, and the atmosphere was peaceful, almost reverent. There’s plenty of space to spread out, and the railings offer unobstructed views, perfect for photography or just soaking it all in. As the sun sank lower, the canyon lit up in warm hues and cast dramatic shadows that changed by the second.

I highly recommend taking the park shuttle—it’s convenient, stress-free, and drops you right at the viewpoint without any hassle.

Truly a magical moment and a memory I’ll never forget. If you see only one sunset at the Grand Canyon, make it...

This is the 4th stop point if you take the RED route bus. You can reach this point if you take the buss and wait for passing 3 stops and then get down at the 4th stop, or you can get down at the 3rd stop and make your way "hike/walk" to the 4th point. The 3rd and 4th stops are very close to each other. I don't recommend that you waste your time waiting for the bus. Just go ahead and walk, It's a nice walk. These 2 points offer a great view over the Grand Canyon, and they are must to visit. Don't miss any of them. I have taken few pictures and you should be able to see them here. Our visit was on the 4th of July and guess what? The weather was great. Don't think that the Grand Canyon would have a hot weather, this is because the elevation here is about 6000ft. So, it's actually it's at least 20-30 degrees below the average temperature in Phoenix, Arizona. Wish you a great trip...

Hopi Point is part of a cluster of viewpoint stops on the Hermit Rest Drive and Rim Trail, a few miles outside of the Grand Canyon Village. From here the views into canyon are outstanding, providing some very good photograph opportunities for visitors.

This viewpoint is just past Powell Point and offers great 180 degree views of the North Rim, westward and eastward parts of the Grand Canyon. This is the first of the viewpoint stops, going west, that offer views of the Colorado River, which you can see glimpses of when scanning the canyon floor.

Note: There are a few spots to park a car here and free shuttle village stop nearby. You can also reach Hopi Point by way of the...

looking to explore the south rim of the Grand Canyon but don’t know where to start? here are few ideas: 🥾hike the South Kaibab Trail to OOH AAH Point. if you want to get a good taste of the canyon without hiking far, this 1.8 mile hike is relatively easy and affords some of the best views. you will need to take a shuttle from the visitors center to the trailhead. 🏜️visit a few of the many scenic overlooks: •Mather Point offers one of the most iconic viewpoints on the south rim. •Hopi point is touted as being a prime sunset watching location with its incredible vistas and view of the Colorado river. •Grandview point. as the name states, this overlook has one of the grandest views of the Grand Canyon. from here, you’ll be able to see a few prominent buttes including Rama Shine, Krishna Shrine, Vishnu Shrine and Shiva Temple. 🛕make a stop at the Desert View Watch Tower. constructed in 1932, the design was modeled after the architecture of the Ancestral Puebloan people. only the ground level is currently open to the public. 🎨 visit the historic Kolb Canyon Studio perched right on the rim of the Grand Canyon. this structure is a park icon, art gallery and bookstore in the vicinity of the Bright Angel Trail. is visiting the Grand Canyon on your bucket list? #grandcanyon #grandcanyonnationalpark #nationalparkspro #yournationalparks #explorearizona #parksproject

Jennifer Hoffman is a professor and astronomer at the University of Denver (DU), where she holds the Womble Chair of Astronomy and directs DU's historic Chamberlin Observatory. Hoffman enjoys exploring the connections between science and art, history, storytelling, and other ways humans experience the world. During her residency, she gave several interactive programs that connected visitors with the cyclical changes in the sky. Spend a Minute Out In It observing the change of the season from Hopi Point. The Astronomer in Residence Program is made possible with generous support from the Grand Canyon Conservancy. 📌 Save the post for your Grand Canyon trip We just recently visited the Grand Canyon National Park during Spring Break. It’s one of those majestic places that we never get tired of. It’s been so neat do go down the memory lane while looking through the old photos and see how much our kids have grown since we first started bringing them here. Here are five things that we love to do as a family in the Grand Canyon National Park: 1.) Walk the Rim Trail: it’s a long 13 mile trail but you can walk any part that you like or are able to. We will usually take the shuttle to one of the more popular view points and walk a mile or two to the next shuttle stop. 2.) Watch sunset or sunrise: one of most popular spots to watch sunset from the rim is the Mather Point. If you want to avoid the crowds, take the shuttle west of the Grand Canyon Village and get off at Mohave Point. Walk along the rim towards Hopi point and find a quiet spot to watch sunset without the crowds. 3.) Hike into the Canyon: only small percentage of Grand Canyon visitors hike into the canyon, however this is the best way to truly experience the magnificence of this place. We chose the South Kaibab and hiked about 3 miles into the canyon (6 miles total) 4.) Watch wildlife: you will not leave Grand Canyon without seeing wildlife. We have always seen elk here, even grazing right along the rim! 5.) Visit the Desert View Watchtower: This is one of the most iconic structures along the South Rim and is located about 25 miles east of the Grand Canyon Village along Highway 64. You can climb the tower all the way to the top floor and admire the beautiful rooms and details that went into designing this structure. Have you had a chance to visit the Grand Canyon?
