Read moreI happened upon this place by accident on my way to White Sands. I had never tried pistachios before as they were always expensive and my family had a near unlimited supply of pecans growing up, with so many pecan trees on our family lands. My bf told me to stop here just to see what they had and boy am I glad that I did.
Taste testing all the different flavors of pistachios was amazing! I've since bought pistachios from that one big producer based in California that sells in big box stores and had to throw them out because they just don't taste as good as the ones I bought at PistachioLand. Also the pistachio ice cream was heavenly!
Now I'm at the point where I'm trying to convince myself when I can take a road trip from Santa Fe, back down just so I can stock up on pistachios AND have that PistachioLand ice cream one more time this season before it gets cold out.

My main goal was to see and take photos of the giant pistachio. Mission accomplished! I love seeing the world's largest agricultural products!
My secondary goal was purchasing postcards. The gift shop had standard New Mexico postcards for 25 cents each. However, the cool cards showing the giant pistachio were 75 cents each. Bummer! That price is out of my budget, as I wanted to send 10 to 20 postcards.
The gift shop is BIG and offers free samples of the different flavors of pistachios for sale. Dogs are allowed in the gift shop, so I brought mine in. She doesn't really enjoy shopping, and she tried to pull me all over the store. A nice worker did give her a doggie biscuit.
If it hadn't been so hot the day I visited, I would have taken the guided tour. I do love a guided tour. However, it was blistering hot (August in the desert), so we were in and out pretty fast.
