White Sands Missile Range — Attraction in Tularosa

I visited here in March 2015 on my way to White Sands National Monument. I almost didn't go because I was later leaving Las Cruces than I intended. But I was so glad I did as I thought it was amazing. The military members serving on the base, who have to check you in, were so friendly - and I was very proud of them. I'm originally from England and have been an American Citizen for a long time. However, there is a separate building which houses one of the German bombs that were used to bomb England in World War 11, which brought tears to my eyes. I'm so grateful to the couple who realized I was from England and directed me to the building. - And if you go, don't overlook the museum - fascinating. Overall, well...

I was stationed at Bristol, RI in 1965-66 at the Nike Hercules Missile Base and in 1965 we were appointed to go to the White Sands Missile Range and fire a missile. When we arrived there we were told we would do the first night firing of a Nike Hercules Missile at White Sands. I would loved to have seen it but I was in the radar van and missed it.
