This is a curious place. It is the site of over-mining in the area and zinc pollution. It was so bad the government deemed it a super site and cleaned it up. The desolation of those days is still noticeable altho great strides have been taken to rejuvenate plant growth. The lower slope of the Kitatinny Range is mostly scrub and grassland. The grassland trail is not well maintained but passable. We started at the north end. The trail was hard to find so we started out on the D&L. Boring. We cut up a branch, pretty steep and rocky.
