PA LAVENDER FESTIVAL REVIEW
My wife and I drove about 2 hours to attend yesterday, and although we were happy to go and enjoyed the vendors, I have to warn people that we were both quite disappointed. First, with a name like "PA Lavender Festival", and an admission charge of $15 in-person or $12.75 in advance, we expected something much, much bigger. If I needed to summarize this event in one sentence, I would say "It's more of an average craft fair with a lavender theme than lavender festival bearing the state's name." That said, the vendors were great and had many wonderful products for purchase. We would return for that alone, if they weren't charging an admission fee. Next, we didn't see any lavender fields. For comparison's sake, we visited Hope Hill Lavender Farm last year and the fields were breathtakingly beautiful and the fragrance was stunning. There were DENSE fields all around us and a view worthy of a movie set. They had a drying house that you could view and a quaint shop where they sell all the lavender products that they make ON-SITE. What we saw yesterday at Blue Sparrow was a sign asking us to "take a walk and pull a weed" as we traveled the woodline. We saw horribly SPARSE fields with an occasional lavender plant trying to push its way up through the tall grass and weeds. The paths were so rutted from tractor/ATV tires, that I nearly snapped my ankle twice. We met another couple on the path that we chatted with briefly who had the same thought, "Where is all the lavender?" There were two trash cans overflowing with garbage and a large fire pit with half burnt plastic bags of trash in the area where the food trucks were set up. Bottom line, we would not recommend attending this event as long as they're charging an admission fee or if you are going specifically to see lavender. I feel like this could become an incredible event worthy of it's admission, but they're going to need to step-up a few things, beginning with the lavender fields.
I would have preferred to leave this review on a page dedicated to the PA Lavender Festival, but alas, I...
Read moreThe concept of the egg hunt and baby animals event was great. The execution was abysmal and highway robbery given the cost. No organization, forcing parents to pay to watch their kids (which was not stated when you had to pay advanced tickets), dollar tree items for the prizes and no food trucks as advertised. No one knew what was going on. I’m surprised no one saw the steam coming out of my ears. You should be ashamed of...
