I attended the ranger-led walk and talk at Cap Rock at 7 PM, which was very much worth it. I learned about the geological formation of these rocks, as well as the diverse plant life and unique Joshua Tree species in the park. The next day, I explored the self-guided tour using the NPS app on my cell phone. It included an additional story at the Cap Rock stop.

Read moreShort trail but some great unique scenery. This is fantastic park with a Flintstones kind of vibe to many of the rock formations. the geology and the processes that formed this place are unique to the area. Through in the Joshua trees and it feels like the land that time forgot. I only had a day to spend here but I will be back as the park is vast much of it only accessible by 4 wheel drive . This is an easy place to stop and wonder about on your way to lengthier treks. Google street view is your friend in this park as you can travel almost everywhere here virtually to get a good sense of the major trail-heads and...
