I used to play soccer over at Lindsey park when I was a kid. I played from age 4 until I graduated high school. It was one of my fondest memories growing up. Recently my niece started playing at the same fields I did. To put this into context she’s 14 yrs old. I couldn’t believe the standards lindsey park has now and how they allow parents and players to act. The teams no have absolutely zero respect for each other nor do the parents. 14 yrs old girls soccer games are now filled with violence, threats, players throwing punches, teams cussing at other teams and cussing at refs by parents. I was completely shocked at the lack of leadership by the refs. I even saw senior refs that have been refereeing since I was a kid just sit by and watch. No word ever said. Just smile and let it go on like nothing happens. What should lindsey park do about it? The way you would handle anything like that. Start disqualifying teams, break up teams, suspend players for a season or permanently if it’s worse. 15 years ago when I played it was nothing like that. As a prior ref I would’ve stopped the game immediately and canceled the game. I’ve been to several games and every single game I went to it was an embarrassment to watch. The management and refs need to step up and start punishing teams and players or you’ll watch a great organization turn into complete trash. Just like the indoor soccer complex a mile away turned into. The referees get training every year throughout the season. Start implementing rules to get your organization back because you’re losing...
Read moreLove, LOve, LOVe, LOVE this hike/bike, disc golf, soccer fields (AMPLE nets, space, bleachers), softball fields and area, it's Ssooo large!! There is a detailed kiosk map of the 4 trails on which to hike and bike with just under 9 miles to do it. The trails are kept up to near perfection thanks to the local bike group. Do be careful of the snakes, even tho the last few copperheads have been friendly, ya never know... If it's been raining, the cricks will run and if hiking, boots are suggested, bikes asked not to ride. Pups can be seen running within the trails, so plz be mindful of disc golf players and bicyclists (run the opposite route) and pick up after your pup (bags are NOT provided, but trash cans are everywhere). With the kiosk showing only 3 disc golf courses, I'd have to argue there is 1 more because I've counted #10 basket in at least 4 different spots, LoL. 2 courses are out in the open with a few baskets within the trees, and 1.5 courses ARE within the trees and trails, FUN!! With softball and soccer leagues playing, you'd think there's no room or space for separate games, but that'd be incorrect... Granted, soccer can get packed lots of weekends, but nights, midweek, and lots of weekends actually ARE open... This park is large, parking might get tight on occasion, but every time I've come, even for fund raisers, it's...
Read moreLindsey park was good. The Easter egg hunt was terrible. They expected tots under 2 years old to know what to do for an Easter egg hunt. Parents couldn't go with their tots. The next hunt was from 4-7 years old. Parents weren't allowed to go in the fence area. Some did anyway. There were kids that were obviously older than 7 but they were allowed to find the Easter eggs. Then they went in the fence area for THEIR age . The park employees had a sign on one gate that it was exit only but the kids were exiting the 3 gates. Scary for 4 year old to be leaving the gate not marked exit while their parents waited at the exit only gate. Which was not even close to the gate they were going out. I appreciate the park and employees doing this. But if they have signs for ages and exit only, they should abide...
