This is definitely an underrated spot in the middle of PA. The admission fee is only $5 per person, and a thorough tour is included. (BTW, on some particular days they have events with higher admission.) We really appreciated to have this lady as our tour guide. She was happy to answer all our questions and she accompanied us for quite a while, almost showed us everything. It was a very informative tour indeed and got an idea of how the life was like in 18 century. Other staff did a great job showing us some cool stuff too. Other than that, there are several trails you can choose from and take a walk around the fort. We did the nearest and shortest one, and it was quite pleasant. Although this replica(rebuilt in 1970s) is much smaller than the original one, we still enjoyed our visit a lot and hope more would discover this historic site, which can be dated back to 1778!

We decided to go here on our vaction after seeing things to do in Altoona, PA on the internet. We weren't sure what to expect, but we weren't disappointed either. This is a hidden treasure near Altoona, PA. If you are ever in the area and even barely like US History, this is a must stop. It is a little off the main road but well worth the time getting there. It took us about 15 minutes from our hotel in Pinecroft, PA. They had a short video to view before the tour along with some features in their little museum. Our guide in the picture was very knowledgeable of the time period and the who, what, why and when of the fort. They have an original Conestoga wagon with all of the natural parts(except the canvass).

The Fort is well preserved and maintained. Although signage and instructions are quite lacking as well as the staff's ability to communicate professionally and politely. When I arrived and parked I proceeded directly to the entrance of the fort and took a few pictures and admired the exterior. Then proceeded into the fort and around to the various buildings, reading the few informational signs and taking more pictures. Upon exiting the Fort, which for me alone took about 10-15mins to tour completely, I was stopped by a staff member who demanded I follow them to the office to pay the admittance fee... after I was done, with no signs instructing anyone to the barn/office to pay to enter.

You can pay to have a guided/detailed tour through the history of the site, a gift shop is availableto purchase souvenirsor some sweets. We visited and learned about each cabin on site. The gentleman that did our tour was great with the kids and enlisted them in "Washington's Army" where they got to learn marching & charging. Very family friendly place to learn about a slice of history and how Pennsylvania helped shape it!

White Oak hall is beautiful and offers a wonderful view. There’s a lot of space and i love that it has a kitchen. I love the open beam ceilings, which gives me so many decorative ideas! Fort Roberdeau is beautiful and rich in history. It’s definitely a place to add to your “visit often” list.

Amazing piece of history and fantastic workers here. Really enjoyed the tour and the video taught me about Roberdeau, along with more knowledge about the mining in the area. Would definitely recommend making a trip out here as it was worth my time and would love to come back for an event!
