Excellent Disc Golf course. There are no fees and all 18 holes have regulation baskets. Unlike some courses there is a bit of elevation change as you go around and up and down the central hill. This makes the game a bit more challenging and offers a higher degree of physical exertion as one moves through course. It also allows wonderful views of the Ukiah valley and points north including mountains in Lake County. Do be watchful of your disc when it lands as it could catch an edge and start rolling down hill seemingly for an eternity. On the plus side it is not uncommon to come across abandoned or lost discs from fellow players. It is common courtesy if there is a name and phone number to contact the owner but often it ends up being a found disc to be added to your own collection.
At certain times of the day and year the course can be very active and you may have to wait 15-30 minutes for a group or two to tee off and head down the fairway. Pungent smoke and small coolers of micro brewed beer often accompany these handfuls of mostly adult males as the trek into the oak trees. Weekday mornings are excellent if you like to avoid the crowd and have the time. Playing solo is a great way to get fresh air, sunshine, exercise, quiet contemplation and improve your game.
Generally it would take the average group not very familiar with the course approx. 75 minutes to complete. With time you could easily get that down to under 40 minutes and those experienced with the Low Gap Disc Golf Course regularly will play two rounds of 18 in a given outing.
Also, there are a number of park activities and amenities in and around Low Gap Park itself to enjoy. Please be sure to respect the course, pack your trash and enjoy this wonderful free resource in Inland...
Read moreThis park is perfect! There are a few trails to choose from and combine if you want. My favorite is City View trail...3 miles round trip from the parking lot...goes up 5000+ feet and there is an incredible view of the town below and the mountains to the east and north, including Snow Mountain. This park has a wide array of wildflowers to see, more than 100 varieties. There is a creek that is wonderful and which has a mildly sloping trail along it that is suitable for anyone except perhaps the most frail. There is a dog park where people gather to let their dogs run free and socialize. There is a disk golf course and a place to practice archery. There is a playground for the little ones, a skate park and tennis courts. This park has something for...
Read moreExcellent park in Ukiah that has almost everything. There's a skate park, picnic tables, grills, swings, jungle gym, tennis courts, dog park, restrooms, playhouse, creek, bridges, hiking trails, disc golf course (this is very popular!), and places to just relax and unwind. It's a load of fun for families, as well as single people from all walks of life. I think homeless enjoy it as much as lawyers or circus performers, birds watches and Christians. There's a wonderful creek bed that attracts lots of attention. And when you're here, you are directly adjacent to the golf course. One of the recreational gems in...
