I was so excited for the weekend that my boyfriend and I booked. We booked T03 for 3 nights and from the pictures it looked like a secluded kingdom.
Once we arrived we were met with the reality that the campsites T01-T03 were 20 steps from the parking lot where other campers parked and hikers would park before the Mt. Mansfield hike. We could also see the neighbors on each side us, the campsites are very close to each other. We were met with loud campers, constant noise of people unlocking their cars, turning their lights on and hikers coming early to hike. It was 4:17am and our tent was met with LED high beams and someone’s mini van playing a podcast loud enough I could hear it clear as day (that says something since I’m partially deaf).
The website and campground certainly makes the campground look further away and more secluded from the other campgrounds which we found to be the opposite.
Overall I can say we didn’t get a decent camping experience. Upon walking around the campground if you pick something further away from the parking lot you might get a better experience than us (we mainly picked our spot so we could be in close proximity to our vehicle). The bathrooms were super clean. I just suggest to everyone to be courteous to the...
Read moreGORGEOUS! Be ready with correct shoes, clothing and water. Be ready to head uphill. Coming back when tired out is downhill plus! ha! 🙂 Some wide, clear "roads" but many offshoot trails. Rocky and roots. Glorious views! Be aware of dogs. There are posts to know yours and be certain they are call trained etc. Ours stayed on leash as they always do for their own safety when out. We incountered more than 1 off-leash that ran up to us. Not cool. One dog is friendly and loves others. Our guy is protective and it sets him off. You never know someone's situation. Rescued, learning etc. All dogs should have same opportunity. Be respectful. I love seeing all the dogs, families, couples all glowing and enjoying the great outdoors. Get...
Read moreThe gates were closed(may be seasonal) but ranger at the first building. Had to park along the dirt road, signs posted saying no parking along the road but the place was packed so i went along with the herd and parked as well. Thankfully didn’t get a ticket and neither did anyone else so it seems safe. Also saw some signs that said this is a $5 fee area yet no where to pay the fee was available so I couldnt pay. Port a potties were FULL to the brim with human waste. Trails were well maintained and a joy to hike. I took maple ridge up(I do not recommend going down this trail) and sunset down. Took me 4.5hrs with a few short breaks. Maple Ridge is not for a novice, be prepared for some climbing, hiking up slabs, and a crevasse you have...
