Β Β Β Read moreYou wouldn't expect a world class museum in such a small town but that's exactly what you get when you visit Discovery Park of America in Union City, Tennessee. As you drive through the town you feel like you have to be in the wrong place until you see the buildings emerge on the horizon as if you are driving toward the future in a time machine.
The uber-modern architecture doesn't properly prepare you for what you find inside. I don't know the exact size of Discovery Park of America but you can visit it from open (10am) to close (6pm) and not see it all.
It is the ultimate science and history museum with a fleet of classical cars that would make an enthusiastic drool, a replica of the Apollo capsule from the moon landings that you can enter, a two foot slide that kids (and adults) enjoy multiple times during their visit, a hands-on play area for kids under 5, a movie theater with educational films, several replica dinosaur skeleton displays... and that's just the tip of the iceberg. And that's just the INDOORS stuff!
Outdoors is an elaborate historical town that walks you through several decades of American history with replica homes as well as audio recordings you can enjoy. There is a train on the grounds that shows you what it was like in past times to travel in style on the American railway. And if you are simply wanting to enjoy nature and not think too much they have two miles of walking trails through an immaculately manicured landscape.
Discovery Park of America is the type of place you not only want to experience multiple times but you also want to take your friends and loved ones for their first trip and experience it through their eyes.

Honestly dont think it was worth it. We went to see the wild aftrica thing, its just watching the discovery channel on a huge wrap around screen. The earthquake simulator was ok, but im from CA so im use to those lol. Cooper tower was just going up and getting a view of everything from really high up, part of the outside wrap around walk way is a glass floor so i didnt go near that. Not good for someone with a fear of heights. Trappers cabin is just an air condistioned cabin with chargers and a tv, you are literally paying to sit down and rest with a ton of dead animals looking at you.... we didnt do journey to space. But i imagine whatever it was i could provaly see in on discovery channel. You can pay for just the general admission and see everything. The extras that come with the explore pass, in my opinion, arent worth the extra you pay. The big slide inside the main building is really cool. Love the space shuttle launch outside, all the exhibits were really neat to look at. Food in the cafe was good. But all in all im not sure we'd go back, even just paying general admission. I feel like we saw it all and there are other things I'd rather see for that price. Now im not one who feels the need to wear a mask everywhere i go BUT, i wish we had worn them. After our visit my WHOLE family got Covid19. It was horrible. And this is the ONLY place we went. We dont go to public places often, aside from walmart, and we dont usually take our kids there when we do. So i know it...
