The walking path at the old chimney has some cleaning up to do. There are some awful odors midway through the trail, like an open sewer as well as something dead. Toward the end of the trail is an abandoned house from the 70s and it looks like some drug-induced vagrants could be living there with a couple of open window upstairs and plywood ripped off the outside. . Needless to say, I felt unsafe. However, on my way out, I picked up the trash where someone ate their lunch and scattered bags in the parking lot. I hope with all the new construction going on there that the committee will pay attention to restoring the trails as well and provide a safe environment for your citizens. And please influence your county commission to bulldoze that hazard house where I see small kids playing around before someone gets hurt. It’s spring with higher temperatures outside, virus season is over and physical activity promotes wellness and helps to boost the immune system...so I need help understanding why the public park and facilities are off limits. I’m confused. I thought recreational centers were state funded...I could be wrong but the state is open, and I don’t understand why the building has not been reopened. I am an unhappy citizen right now. I wonder if it’s like this in...
Read moreMy son loves coming to this park but he gets disappointed every time we come and the basketball court that is open still has locks on the hoops. I called to speak to someone about this and she was rude, nonchalant and dismissive about it. Basically saying they don’t know when they will open it back up and when I said other parks are open she said no they aren’t open then said oh well that’s other parks we got a lot of people who live in union city. I hate when I get on the phone with people like that. No solutions just excuses. Other than that the park is always clean and we enjoy everything else in the park that is open. Literally everything else but the hoops. Court is open though if you want to come in and sit and look at...
