Ohio's longest covered bridge and aptly names too! I saw this place on the map on a Saturday evening and had to visit it! Sunday morning, alone and on my motorbike, I made a quick trip to it, riding an hour plus each way. Close to the bridge, the road becomes single laned and you have to be careful. If you bring your bicycles, you can ride it on the bicycle lane that takes you to either side of the bridge. The parking lot is just the lot and a portable toilet .. plus a shade with picnic benches. This is Amish country and that probably explains the droppings on the bridge .. I saw 2 horse carts on the way back! The bridge is beautiful, solidly constructed and atop the river, it is simply an experience that will remain with you. You can see 2 adjacent bridges on one side. I spent about 45 minutes here. It...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a very long covered bridge on the Kokosing Gap rails to trails multi use trail. The trail bed itself is mixed crushed stone and dirt. This area is inhabited by many in the Amish Mennonite community, so, the trail is utilized regularly by horses, horse drawn carriages, buckboards, carts, bicycles, etc. The bridge has a padding in place to accommodate this traffic as well as a high side so the horses can't see that they are over water and freak out. There is a parking lot and a small picnic shelter near the bridge. The road up is a bit washed out, but, easily passable. The trail can be traversed for many miles of one so desires. We find the trail to be moderately wheelchair friendly. The river underneath is frequented by canoes, kayaks,...

Both times, we have been the only campers here, which means a quiet night. While the bridge attracts lots of people for sunset, they usually clear out shortly after dark. The path remains active for some time after dark due to Amish buggies, but we've never had any issue or disturbances from them or anyone else for that matter. There's no potable water or food nearby, but it's a free campsite right next to the trail. Lots of room for multiple...
