this trail follows Swatara Creek upstream for about 10 mi, then you can cross over and return on the bear hole trail. Very scenic quiet mostly shady. The only problem was the first mile-and-a-half going north of lickdale it's very stoney and definitely not suited for skinny tire bikes. There are at least two opportunities to shorten the loop, by crossing over Swatara Creek. I did the long loop, and I saw a grand total of twelve other trail users. I imagine it is much busier on the weekends. It is adjacent to Swatara State Park, so that would be a source of extra users. Also, there are a bunch of mountain bike loops that tee off of the trail.
