Nipmuck State Forest — Attraction in Union

We put it into Google map though we would stop for a nice picnic near the water ... Got to a sign that welcomed us to the park, said it would be open till sun set and drove an drove and drove no signs talking about the trails ... Just a tire trail that took us up and down hills and into a cobble trail... Was scary, creapy.... Very nerron road with lots of turns and very steep. Very empty no a in sight....and jus lots of huge flies hanging...

Very tranquil place. Visited in late January and enjoyed the snow covered trees. Lots of GeoCache sites and historical grave markers. Only complaint was the amount of garbage on a lot of the trails. Ended up collecting a large bag full at the end of our trek. We also saw some dumped furnature and many tires close to the road. All in all a excelent place to go hiking, just be mindfull of nature...

I really debated rating this state forest, since I didn't have the time or the daylight to fully explore it. This appears to be a beautiful gem of a state forest and I only regret and not having the time to bike all its many roads and trails. Maybe if fall holds out for a few more precious warm days I will get a chance to really take in the beauty of nature and upgrade my rating to a...
