Sunset Farm Adventure Park — Attraction in Union

Sunset Farms is a go to place to take your family and spend the day. Until this Labor day weekend I wasn't aware that this little farm that was nestle back in the woods close to Alderson, WV existed. There was a advertisement for the first West Virginia Sunflower 🌻 Festival. We live a couple hrs. away . We decided to try it out and took our Granddaughter. It was something to behold. Beautiful field of Sunflowers ,live music , Butterfly release which was absolutely beautiful it was in remembrance of loved ones that had gone on before us or just someone special. Much to my surprise there were couples down next to the Sunflowers getting engaged and what was awesome there were a few professional photographfers there and caught their special moments. There were also vendors that had beautiful handmade items for sale which I thought added a unique touch other then having a simple flea market. There were also some awesome food venders. Now I can't leave out what was seen though the eyes of my Granddaughter. She is 3 yrs old and was wide open from the time she got out of the car. She played in the Sunflowers skipped to the petting zoo. Petted the big turtle, bunny rabbit's, goat's everything she could get her little hands on run to the big bounce tarp ran jumped called everybody her friend. All the childen played in the duck pond trying to win a toy giggling and smiling. Then She spotted a tractor pulling these metal cows white with black spots and a rope tale each one had a name Rosie was her favorite. She rode them cows over and over those kids had fun eating hot dogs 🌭 and was in a safe environment. When we left with her she wave an hollered bye to everybody. And talked about it all night long. Nobody got sleep at her house. When you look though the eyes of children, and you write a review and bring yourself down to their level you see the innocents the joy it brings a huge smile to their face that some how grown up seem to loose. We visited during the Alderson Strawberry Festival and was a little disappointed. 1st, the drive up was a little nerve-racking. It's a very windy road up the mountain, and with heavy traffic, you have to pull into the ditches, due to just slightly larger than a quarter lane dirt road. It took almost 30 minutes to drive up from Alderson. Once there, not a hugh farm, but as we walked through the strawberry fields, we noticed they were picked clean. Barley, any strawberries anywhere. We were surprised when we got up, that they were still selling quarts to go pick. $20 for 2lbs, which seems a little expensive, but I know it's more for the experience, so that's not horrible. We didn't get any, though, because there was no way we could have filled 1 quart up. We heard people complaining about it as we walked up. They had a lot of activities for the kids. Their bucking tractor ride seemed pretty legit. They also had tastings that you could buy tickets and sample around. We walked around and grabbed some BBQ at a food truck. Took a picture with the big 🍓, grabbed a strawberry cone, was tasty, and a bag of freeze dries strawberries. If we came early, maybe the strawberry picking would have been good? or not on the festival day. We'll have to come back a different time and check them out, worth that. Not again on a busy day with that dirt...

absolutely beautiful place. a new, small place (hopefully just for now) but has incredible potential because there are so few places like this in southern WV. and PLEASE bring a fresh produce stand to Beckley. it has nothing except the ever popular chain stores and places that get their product outside the state. lol...and now for those peaches. growing up in Florida and driving back and forth from WV, I have stopped at ALOT of fruit and peach stands, especially in Georgia. I can tell you the these peaches would put WV on the map as a peach state. Never had peaches as sweet and juicy as these. STUNNING and you need to also be the states official best peaches. Last thing...I hope those who head to your farm appreciate the beautiful sites along the way. It may take a few extra minutes but that's ok....it WV and your place is worth the drive.
