Union County Museum — Attraction in Union

The Union County Museum and Union County Historical Society have recently undergone some changes. These changes have or will be to the detriment of what used to be one of the BEST museums in the state. They used to care about preserving our history, the good and bad, but now they want to whitewash and sugarcoat our past. They don’t want to have the reenactment because it looks bad on our town. Wake up!!! If we don’t teach and learn from our past, we are doomed to repeat it. Just because you don’t like parts of it, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen!!! ...

We visited the museum for the first time today. There were lots of items on display pertaining to the history of Union County. There were exhibits about the military, doctors & medical history. Also the once thriving textile industry which was a major economic part of Union's history! They have huge area of researching family genealogy. Hope to go back another day with more...

The Newberry Academy SC History, Civics, and US History classes visited the Cross Keys House and the Museum on 05/03/24. Our time was limited at the Museum today due to several other appointments. We definitely plan to go back. The Museum offers such a rich history 👏 and you need at least 2 or 3 hours to fully take it in. Howard the director was super!!! We will be back...
