Legit just finished this tour and honestly...it was great for me. This is a jungle tour so expect a jungle. This is not the pastures back home. With that being said yes it was a little ruff for a novice. With such great leaders and amazing team, they made this novice a jungle riding cowboy within 30 mins of showing up as long as you listen to what is being said. But heres the truth 😌 and not a bad truth but expect to wait an hour before mounting especially in a big group setting. It takes time to match the horses with the right person. ✅️ on top of that people have to mount and get ready and learn kinda all together. It made for a great social time together. Girls were solid females who know a horse or two. Cant argue with their techniques cause it works. They know the horses well and took very good care and control of them. They are older abused horses so please remind yourself that when you see them. Some of the horses were gentle and some of them more .....lets say hardheaded? Its why they gotta match them up so you can be the best you can be with the right horse. Started at the beaches, walked through barely 100 feet of dirt paths and trees before boom just straight jungle just like that. Its a short trip to not over exhaust the horses i think all n all 2 hrs. So after the jungle we saw plantation remnants of old buildings, papaya trees. Mango trees, mangrove trees..after we went to the beach for pictures and then into the water(we had some complications so group was split and the people who didnt want to went back) but she went right back for the people who did. After that you pay if you didnt already and tip of course. Now its hot...its a jungle right....so hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, no food or drinks are provided and my one recommendation to the crew is maybe a chest for water in the beginning for people? That could be a cool thing to add to your tours...anyways like i said its a hottie mc hots hot in the jungle. I felt comfortable on my horse, i can say i felt safe and i felt in control the whole time. ALIEN was my homie. (Just dont sneak up behind him, he may be a gentle horse but he not likey other horses by his booty playing sneak tag...) he did not hurt anyone and just made a fuss. Nothing came of it after just horses being horses. ( personally i think him and the other horse already had some side beef, 🤔 lowkey he was flirting with another horse and i think the horse he made a fuss out of was trying to roll up on his lover ya know so alien the horse dont play that 😳) again its hot they did a great job for a jungle this is not your granmdas pasture and go have fun...
Read moreMy family and I hired Cruzan Cowgirls for a private trail ride and we were very disappointed. We arrived at the meeting place and it seemed disorganized from the get go. Once Jessa and Allie figured out who got which horse she explained that the stirrups would be too long for the children. The kids have done numerous trail rides and the various companies have always fitted their stirrups to their height. Why did you ask their heights and weights if it didn’t matter? We headed into the rainforest which was a very slow ride because the horse leading was slow and in training. I had to stop my horse numerous times because it kept trying to get in front of the lead horse. Once we got to the beach it was deemed unsafe she go in the water which was of course disappointing but I totally understand the reasoning. I agree it was the correct call for the safety of the riders and the horses. As we were leaving the beach my older daughter who is nine and has ridden quite a bit ended up on the ground. Her horse had stopped to try to have a snack and Allie who was bringing up the rear gave the horse a little nudge and it jolted sending Ella to the ground. Thankfully she wasn’t hurt bad just a few scrapes and a bit startled. Overall it was the organizations was unprofessional and disorganized. When I pay $175 per person for a private trail ride I expect a little bit more professionalism. I even heard about Jessa’s butt chaffing for a good portion of the trip. I am sure Allie and Jessea are great riders but we definitely did not get our moneys worth out of that experience. I feel that a private trial ride where you shell out that kind of dough for a little over an hour of riding is ridiculous and should be driven but someone older then 17. Or At the very least acts...
Read moreWe recently took our family of four on a horseback riding tour with Cruzan Cowgirls, and we had an absolutely amazing time! The tour was everything we had hoped for and more.
Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. They took the time to teach us about the history of St. Croix, the local flora and fauna, and how to care for the horses.
The ride itself was beautiful. We started out riding through the rainforest and then came to the beach where we took amazing pictures of our family on the horses, and finally ended up in the ocean. The horses were all well-trained and gentle, and we felt completely safe the entire time.
We also really appreciated that Cruzan Cowgirls is a rescue organization. All of the horses on the tour were rescued from neglect or abuse, and they are all well-cared for. We felt good knowing that our money was going to a good cause.
Overall, we had an amazing experience with Cruzan Cowgirls. It was a great way to see the island, learn about its history, and spend time with our family. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting St. Croix.
