Our family decided to opt for the afternoon beach-club cabana with dinner that night (felt it would be a good break from the boat). Upon arrival, we found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating and escorted us directly to our pool cabana. The unobstructed view from the cabana is one of the best in the USVI...palm trees swaying, breezes blowing off the Caribbean while you sip on a frozen drink overlooking a pool. The staff at the pool was very attentive and well aware of their surroundings. Pool side food was excellent and served hot, again -with much attention. Lovango uses sort of a "tag-team" approach so we had as many as 4 different cabana attendants -great service but caused a bit of confusion at times. For the size of the property, the pool is small and can get rather crowded if several families with children all get in at once. We were there while a large family was enjoying the pool -certainly what they paid for but just made for a crowded and noisy experience when we were expecting a more quiet environment. Now...unfortunately, the other side of the coin. The over-all experience of 3 hours access to their pool and dinner is a bit expensive for what you get (we felt a bit of pressure to start getting our things together around 4pm...we arrived at the pool at 1pm, tender would not dispatch until 12:45). We were asked to clear the pool area for reasons we are still not sure of which meant the only place to go was back to the boat. We had 8pm dinner reservations and their boat tender was very timely and professional. Dinner was timely and again, service was excellent...however, we felt the food to be a bit average for such a nice atmosphere and expense. Overall, we really wanted to enjoy Lovango (and very much enjoyed the short time at the pool). The service is excellent and the property is absolutely gorgeous (no beach so not sure where they get the name "beach club")....but, for the money spent we do not see it on our next rotation through the USVI, the same amount of money we spent here will buy you a night at the Four Season's in Maui with the same service, ambiance, nights stay and one of the most beautiful beaches in the world -maybe we are not comparing apples to apples.....they are new and the owners seem to be very knowledgeable and passionate about what they are doing - we will certainly keep our eyes and ears open. When they get this place fine-tuned, it will be a stop...
Read moreMy husband and I spent our honeymoon staying in a glamping tent at the Lovango Beach Club and Resort for 8 nights and it was the BEST.
The accommodations are lovely and as described online, there are no surprises if you do your research! The sea breeze was so nice through the tent and the AC unit for the bed kept you nice and cool at night – we didn’t miss central AC at all! The view from the north side of the island is incredible – unobstructed blue skies, sunrises/sunsets, gorgeous blue water and view of Congo Cay. Crescent beach on the north side was great to hike up/down to (or you can request a ride) and the snorkeling was like your own private aquarium.
Additional notable Lovango experiences include ATV rides around the property, simple “text what you need” concierge service, pool side activities, morning yoga and a Honeymoon beach excursion.
The Beach Club is a great place to relax and enjoy your time. The Cabanas and Day Beds are fantastic and the services is excellent. We enjoyed the best lunches (burger, burrata salad, ahi tuna, etc.) with delicious drinks. It’s pricey – and it’s worth it. The food/drinks are truly divine, not what you think of as pool side food.
We ate dinner twice at the restaurant and enjoyed the beach party under the stars. The ferry service to St. John and St. Thomas makes it SO easy to visit the other islands. I told my husband it was easier than getting an Uber in Boston these days. We were able to try several restaurants and visit St. John National Park beaches with ease.
Without a doubt, what makes this place special is the people. The team at Lovango has a passion for what they’re doing. The resort is still at the beginning of their building but they are rolling with changes and creating new processes as they grow. They care not just about their guests experience at Lovango but their full vacation experience. We followed the team’s recommendations for wonderful restaurants and sailing adventures with Sailing Tipitina. We spent 8 nights on the island and it truly felt like home, we were greeted with warm smiles and questions about our day’s adventures by each person we met. We loved spending this much time on this quiet, beautiful island and we will...
Read moreWhat a place! Catering to those looking for a higher degree of privacy for snorkeling, beach, pool-going, and dining in a resort that builds into the island instead of building the island into the resort. This (still early in development) getaway from your island getaway is small but extraordinary. You can enjoy top-notch seaside dining with incredible quality sourcing - even where that means ingredients flown-in stateside.
For the more adventurous, the star is the snorkeling. We started our young child on the north side, which is sheltered from the waves and larger fish by a nearby island bird preserve. When we first arrived, he was "never" going to try snorkeling. By the end of the day, we had moved to the south side with its much larger schools of fish (and occasional urchins, turtles, and possibly a dolphin), and you can guess who was clinging to the ladder and begging to keep snorkeling for another few hours.
The only trouble with this extravagant place is that it can be difficult to get as much time as you might like at the Cay exactly when you want it. Boats to and from the venue are limited. Perhaps as Lovango edges to completion, there will be more opportunity for guests to plan a trip that more ideally fits their schedules. In the meantime, we suggest going as early as you can and staying as long...
