BRIDES BEWARE
I don't even know where to start at what a complete and utter disaster and mess this whole place is!
Let’s start from the very beginning. My fiance and I booked this location 7 months in advance. Where we came to visit 2 times. Both times our “wedding coordinator” was over an hour late and we were shown the house by the cleaning woman! That should have really been the first sign. Throughout the 6 months leading up to the wedding I tried contacting said wedding planner dozens of times with questions and no response or responses weeks later. Fast forward a week before the wedding and still nothing. I reached out to him yet again because there was an impeding storm lasting days in the area. I wanted to make sure we had a set backup plan. Shane ASSURED us not to worry. They are completely confident in their backup plan in case of rain. I told him IT WAS GOING TO RAIN and that I wanted the barn location used. (this was just the first time I brought this up). He said not to worry. I also confirmed with him that I had a list of my guests names and rooms assignments for the “staff” we were told we would have by him to let guests know what rooms they were staying in. WELL THERE WAS NO SUCH STAFF and our guests were completely lost! Were they supposed to wander the house or did they expect the bride to stand at the front desk and escort guests to rooms?
AS THE DAY GOES BY GUESS WHO ISNT TO BE FOUND- SHANE- OUR “WEDDING COORDINATOR!” However, Helen, who really was a sweetheart, was there. I told her I was watching the weather all day and it was going to rain at exactly the time of the ceremony. I repeated this 100000000 times that day. They assured me looking on their weather apps that it was not coming in our direction. I told her I wanted to move it to the barn just in case. She went out of her way to supposedly set up BOTH locations. Well guess what… exactly 5:50pm SHANE DECIDES HE WANTS TO FINALLY SHOW UP!!! And proceeds to tell me its not going to rain… as we are looking outside AT THE RAIN! At this point he tells me we have to move the ceremony inside. We were already behind and we couldnt use either location so what option did I have, so we proceeded to move the ceremony indoors. At this time, I heard from several of my guests, after the wedding, that Helen herself was heard saying “I don’t know what to do Ive never been in this situation before”. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! You’ve never had rain on a wedding before?!!
IT WASNT UNTIL AFTER THE CEREMONY that Shane then says to me “We could have had the wedding in the barn.” Well I was absolutely behind upset at this point because that is where I told him and HELEN over and over and over again that I wanted it to be held. If someone would have listened to me from the first second this wouldn’t even be an issue.
By this time we are realizing due to the rain that the ceiling on the second floor is pouring rain.. absolutely pouring and the floor is like a river between rooms. This was brought to the attention of the staff and yet again… Not enough staff I suppose because NOTHING WAS DONE. It was cleaned up by my guests!!! How embarrassing! Then I myself brought to the attention of the staff that the floor on the first floor in front of the HANDICAPPED room which my mother who has cancer and can barely walk was sleeping was also soaked. Yet again… NOTHINGGGGGGG. So I, in my wedding dress, CLEANED THE FLOOR! The sidewalls on the tent were not put up prior to the ceremony at alllllll. It wasn’t until my husband yelled at them that it was still pouring outside and all of my center pieces flew and broke on the ground did they finally decide to put up the sidewalls....
Read moreThe front of the property is picturesque. You are wowed when you walk through the entrance. That was where the Wow factor ended for us. Instead of a person to welcome you there is a sign at the desk to call Zack except we didn’t have a cell signal and couldn’t get a call to go through. When you book a reservation online it asks for a check in time. Why bother selecting a time if you don’t plan to have someone greet your guest. Zack arrived and offered to give us a tour of the property while they finished getting our room ready. Check in was 3pm, which is when we arrived and our room wasn’t ready? Zack was very friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately we were on a time schedule and had reservations at 4pm since we weren’t expecting the check in process to take so long we didn’t really have time to inspect the room. There was no one to be found when we headed out even if there was a problem. Later when we returned we took a stroll up the path as Zack had recommended and the view was spectacular. We took a stroll around the back of the property. The cushions from the patio furniture by the pool were all over the place and it seemed liked they hadn’t been taken in during the winter and they were filthy. The grounds didn’t seem to be kept up on. We took a tour of the inside and finally came across one of the staff members who said if we wanted a wine tasting to let him know and it would be $5 a person. We passed. There was two employees having a personal, curse filled conversation in the breakfast area. We finally got back up to our room. The room was a disappointment. We had booked the studio suite and our room had two rooms. The blinds in both rooms were broken. We couldn’t change in the one room since a part of the blind was broken and missing and you could see right through to the outside. Our TV wasn’t working and my fiancé got a electric shock when he tried to fix the cable box. He finally was able to reset everything and got it to work. The furniture in both rooms were stained and filthy. The shower had a weird stain the floor and the shower head seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite sometime. There was an issue with the bathroom door. I closed it and when I tried to open it, it wouldn’t open. We had an issue with our door key during the whole visit. On the website it says that breakfast was included. It did not say continental and since it was an Inn we expected it would be a hot breakfast included. There was a $10 per person up charge if we wanted eggs and bacon. We passed and decided to go with the stale bagels and horrible coffee. It wasn’t even a continental breakfast since the only options were bagels and a tray of bread. We decided we had enough and wanted to check out ASAP. Check out was the most bizarre experience. There was no one there to inquire about your stay. You just left your key at the front desk. It is a shame because there is a lot of potential but the place has not been kept up on and the staff does not seem to care. Zack was the only one who we came across who seemed to truly take pride in his work. We will not be returning. At the price you are charging for a night stay it should include a wine tasting and breakfast. There really shouldn’t be an...
Read moreMy wife and I fell in love with the Chelsea Sun Inn from the first time we toured the property. The estate is just beautiful inside and out. There is a mixture of both old and new; From the amazing wood work in the panelings and moldings. The old stone work in the original sections of the estate. To the amazing fireplace as a focal point in the main sitting area. On top of that all of the guests rooms are unique and beautiful in their own way. From the suites to the standard rooms. None will disappoint. There are so many unique and interesting things showcased throughout the entire estate, it's just something you need to see for yourself. We loved it so much we decided to have our wedding there. Getting married on ceremony hill surrounded by nature and breathtaking views of the Delaware Water Gap is indescribable. Sunsets there are just magnificent. The sky bursts with blazing hues of autumnal colors. It's so incredibly peaceful and calming it feels like your in a some sort of fairytale. If you ever decide to stay at Chelsea it something you just have to experience. We had the luxury of getting married on Ceremony hill on October,12th 2019. We were even blessed with a rainbow if the view wasn't already incredible enough. Our reception went off without at hitch. Everything was so perfect. Our guests couldn't stop expressing to us how much they loved our venue. It's so unique and much more intimate then getting married at some Fancy Hotel filled with a bunch of strangers. You are surrounded only by the people you know and love. The staff there are both pleasant and a pleasure to work with. If you stay the night you will have the pleasure of meeting Apple in the morning for breakfast. She is such a kind soul and will do whatever she can to make you comfortable. She started our day off right. Whipping up a fantastic breakfast for us and our guests. Shane who is the coordinator/GM/a few other things, was our main contact from the beginning. He showed us the property on day one and was with us until very late the night of our ceremony helping to make sure everything was perfect for our special day. Randy was another star player during our time there. He helped us with whatever we needed and was on property most of the time we were there, both the day of and the day before our wedding. He is such an interesting person. Some of my groomsman and I had great conversations with him for hours one night. It was nice to get to know him on a more personal level. Randy also provided some amazing entertainment for us and our guests during our reception with an incredible fire dance. I also want to thank James and Alex who helped set up our tables and chairs for our ceremony and reception. There was another young man who was very helpful but unfortunately I don't remember his name. He was super helpful land even chopped up some firewood for us to use in the fire pit.I do apologize for forgetting your name but you deserve to be mentioned. We fully expect to return for another amazing weekend...
