Capitol Reef Adventure Company — Attraction in Utah

We toured the Mighty 5 last week and canyoneering with Tim and Gecko was one of the highlights of our trip! We were a total of 4 adults and 6 kids and Tim and Gecko's professionalism and overall wonderful personalities made our first time canyoneering, fun and informative. With the help of Mike, the owner, we selected Pete's Dragon as the perfect spot for our adventure. The kids (ages 11-13) were excited (and nervous), when getting ready to rappel, but Tim and Gecko's encouraging words, as well as never-ending patience, allowed the kids to manage the technical aspect of the sport and overall enjoy their experience. They were easy to talk to, which helped pass the time as we hiked through Pete's Dragon and rappel to the bottom of the canyon. Tim and Gecko provided all the equipment needed for canyoneering, and easy to follow directions. They ensured our safety and followed our speed as we climbed down 5 rappels. I never felt rushed to complete the hike, which helped since I was the most scared of all of us. I was amazed how we moved through the rappels, considering we had 10 people in our group. We reached out to Capitol Reef Adventure Company for a unique adventure on our honeymoon road trip in Utah. We had done minimal research on canyoneering, and were up for the new experience and challenge. Needless to say, we had THE experience of a lifetime! We're sort of in awe of our accomplishments. What a rush of excitement it was to rappel down into slot canyons, friction climb through small spaces, and then hike/scramble back up to the top of the canyon at the end of the day. Mike, our guide, was absolutely awesome and so much fun. He had such a calming presence the whole, even when we were seriously doubting what we got ourselves into. He was very knowledgeable of not only the sport of canyoneering, but also anything and everything outdoors, the history of Capitol Reef and the surrounding areas. It was so easy to spend a whole day with a complete stranger! My husband and I were both first timers, and are so eager to get back out on another canyoneering trip! We added in the overnight camping experience to top it off, which was the absolute perfect way to wind down in the great outdoors. We will forever hold these memories with us. Capitol Reef Adventure Company delivered an epic canyoneering trip! Mike and Tim made the booking experience seamless. They were accessible and followed up with an email that provided a detail itinerary and recommendations for the trip. We immediately felt comfortable after meeting our guide Markhor. After gathering our gear, we headed up Cohab Canyon Trail. On our hike, Markhor explained the history of the area, the surrounding sandstone layers, the native vegetation and the fauna of the region. Soon into the hike, Markhor took us into a short slot canyon where we could get comfortable climbing on the sandstone walls. Throughout the entire day, he made sure that our safety was highest priority, but that our day was full of fun and adventure. We geared up and descended into Wife 5 Canyon. The first 100 foot repel presented a breathtaking view of the canyon! The remaining journey through the canyon did not disappoint.
