Really great trail with beautiful views and nice shade for almost the entire hike. The trail follows a stream for most of the hike to Deuel Creek Waterfall, so there's plenty of fresh water for your pup. There were a few muddy spots and a small amount of snow up by the waterfall, but other than that it was pretty dry. The trail crossed the stream quite a few times, and all but one crossing had sturdy log bridges. There is one area early on where you need to make your way over some large rocks to stay on the trail, and a few steep areas as well, but for the most part it was gradual ups and downs. I wound recommend a hiking pole though; we were very glad E had its today! There is also a really neat tree swing about 1.5 miles in for kids to ride on. All in all, we really loved this trail and will definitely be going back! There's a steep 1/2 mile dirt road to get to the trail head though, so you'll either need a 4WD vehicle to make it up, or you can park down on the road and hike up to the trailhead. There is no bathroom at this trail, and there is a shooting range and 4x4 course right near the entrance as well, so just be alert if you bring...

This is a lovely place to hike. Let me set something straight first, the drive up to the parking area and trail head is sort of terrifying because it's pretty steep and you definitely have to watch for oncoming vehicles because there are some places where the road will only fit one vehicle. The trail head itself does exists. It looks like there is a place where a map of the trail used to be, but the glass is broken and that map/guide no longer exists where it is supposed to. The trail takes you to a stream and more or less follows it up the mountain. There are several man-made bridges, which are cool and there are a few places where the trail stops because you have to climb over some rocks to get to the next bit of trail. There is a rope swing about a mile and a half up that has apparently been there a really long time and I assume it is still safe (people still use it fairly often). The trail continues on past the swing. I have never been past the swing, but I don't think it goes much further because everyone who has continued on was back in the parking lot about another 30-60 minutes later. Overall, an adventurous trail. I'll be...

Horrible experience here. I love hiking and the outdoors. We came here one weekend for a morning hike up to the waterfall with some friends. We parked where everyone else was parked along the side of the road coming up (no signs saying no parking, no indication that this was a no parking area). Came down to tickets on all of our cars for "unsafe parking". Apparently the City of Centerville Police believe that parking on the side of a road is illegal and unsafe even though there aren't signs. We aren't from Centerville and had no idea that we were not supposed to park here. I even called their police department to find out what we had done wrong. The cop who left us the tickets was a total jerk. Telling me that there aren't signs saying not to park in the middle of the street but it's still illegal. However we weren't parked in the middle of anything. We were parked on the side of a road. As we're about 20 other cars.

Excellent hike! Loads of shade, a clear path with nicely groomed access throughout, and a few nice stopping points that make the journey overall well worth it. Be sure to stop at the makeshift rope swing, loads of fun, literally! Also, the waterfall at the end of the hike is fantastic, and as mentioned by other fellow hikers plan for 2-3 hours for being in and off the trail. Terrain wise despite a few minor hills, there is really nothing to be concerned about, and again the trail is well taken care of. Be sure to plan ahead for the road up to the entrance to the trail as it isn't in the greatest of shape currently as it has been in years past due to some of the incremental weather from the past couple of weeks. Overall, a super fun hiking experience that comes easily recommended!

This hike easily enters our short list of hikes we’d do again. It is shady, beautiful, hugs a river, ends in a fun swing, and is a good fit for our kids ages 5-8. There were a couple moderately dangerous spots such as an area of erosion at the start where if you did slip and fall you’d be down a cliff and a spot you’ve got to go over some rocks with a rope. Both are safe with careful and surefooted hikers including experienced children although there is serious risk so please be aware. The rest of the trail feels very safe. The family loved the rope swing. Getting to the falls from there wasn’t obvious and since the kids wanted to leave we missed the falls. Overall a very pleasant hike.
