Flaming Gorge Dam visitor center is a nice place to stop to get a great view of the Green River and the Flaming Gorge Dam . If you’ve been to the Hoover Dam, this place will remind you of it, but only a smaller version. The visitor center is very clean. There’s a gift shop, restrooms, plenty of free parking and shaded picnic tables. The staff is very helpful. There’s a small theater which plays several movies about the history of the dam. There are tours available, which will allow you to take a 48 story elevator down to the bottom of the dam to see the turbines which generate electricity. There is a sky bridge so you can walk over and see the lower side of the dam. Overall, the visitor center is a pleasant place to stop and take a break and...

Does a great job of keeping the lake full of water and generates power at the same time

Disappointing that the tours haven't resumed-covid doesn't need to last forever

The restroom was interesting. One cubicle looked like it was for naughty people, with a lock on the door, and I wasn't really sure how I should use what I think was a urinal

Should I sit on it? Stand and pee in it?

The video presentation in the theatre seemed very dated. When the the presenter said, "We're going to start…" I thought she was going to continue, "…back in 1983"

It was nice to see the inner workings, even if it was via a standard...

Want to go back. Beautiful place. If you are just driving through, I think the east side of the gorge offers more overlooks along the way. I did the west side and most side roads just lead to day use areas and boat ramps. But the Sheep Creek Loop (south of Manila) on west side is well worth it!!! Great short side trip with amazing and surprising topography! The Visitor's Center at the dam is closed during covid. And don't forget...Dinosaur Nat'l Monument is a short distance to the southeast below the gorge. Vernal, UT is a great overnight stop to explore both. Very nice, well priced Quality...
