So many negative reviews, but honestly for a reservoir, it's not that bad. Just like any 'close' reservoir you go to on a weekend, during summer, it's going to be busy. So plan on that. Or, make it nice for the rest of us and don't go so we can enjoy it.

This is one of our favorite reservoirs to go to every year to camp. We make our reservations in advance for the spot we like. We don't have a boat but we have paddle boards and everyone loves going out on them. We have dogs so we stay away from the side with all the people/crowds and boats and everyone is pretty chill and nice on this side. If you like dogs. We've never had obnoxious people around us. It's nice and relaxing and fun towards the water/beach even with the rocks. There are real toilets, running water, showers and cell phone service to keep the kids happy too.

We even came here when the water was really low and still enjoyed it. Regardless of the longer walk to get to the water.

Maybe if people find this reservoir unsatisfying for them. Try for a reservation and see how it is a nice place. Highly recommend.

These pictures are taken from where we camp. We try and get it right down by the water. If you are further away you can drive down and park or...

I have to say, my first time camping and fishing at Jordenelle left me pretty disappointed. The camping fee of $30 per night seemed exorbitant to me, and hauling a wagon up and down hills for a quarter of a mile was quite a challenge. While the campsite was clean and tidy, there were some serious downsides to the experience.

For one, there were some rowdy party-goers who kept the noise going until 4 in the morning. On one occasion, when I went fishing with my little girl, some people were even throwing rocks in the lake, and one nearly hit her in the head. It was pretty unsettling.

Overall, there seemed to be a lot of drinking and partying going on, which was not what I had hoped for in a camping trip. If you're looking for an authentic Utah experience, I'm sorry to say that this probably isn't the place for you. It seemed like there were a lot of out-of-staters, city dwellers, and teens around, and as a Utah resident, I was hoping for something a bit more peaceful and serene. It's...

☀️ Hurry, summer is almost over!!! 📍Jordanelle Reservoir 🐕‍🦺 this used to limit the areas dogs could be in. the Utah State Park has updated their sites & maps in recent years to allow dogs. 6' leashes are required. Off-leash while actively swimming (yes, they can be in the lake) Please be responsible so we dont lose this privelage! Control doggo and scoop the poop. 💦 Water is monitored by Utah DEQ. No E Coli or Algal Blooms reported this summer. Water feels fresh & clean. Honestly, Chip was cleaner after swimming and didnt need a bath lol ⏰ 30min drive from Sugarhouse SLC 🅿️ Easy parking just a short walk to the beach. Easy to pack supplies. 🏄‍♀️ Paddleboards allowed for the SUP pups 👟 Beach is rocky. Bring shoes. 💲$20 Vehicle Access Fee #slc #saltlakecity #dogfriendly #utah #summerfun

We are so fortunate to have the Jordanelle in the midst of a Mountain Town. It is a great spot for camping, boating, sailing, SUP, rowing and the like. It is within a State Park, so there is a day use fee per vehicle or you can get an annual pass (for <$100). The park has a shop that offers snacks, ice, sunscreen etc. Also a rental place for boats and other equipment. Camping available for tents or motorhomes. Boat storage. Special events periodically throughout the year (fireworks, Christmas lights, etc). Park City also has it's very own Park City Sailing Association (PCSA) which has an active membership, with weekly races throughout the season, for kids and adults, on single-handed or team boats. Check out the website of Jordanelle or PCSA for more info.
