It's our family tradition as of 3-4 years ago. It became a tradition just from the beauty of each home that partakes in the holiday festivities. Lights shine brightly and the inflatable decor lead to fingers pointing out in astonishment. Lights wrap palm trees and paintings of Santa sit on rooftops. Taking an annual visit never disappoints and I look forward to seeing passerbys' faces share in the joy of Christmas.
That being said, I've seen these house go through changes. Some for the better and some not so great. Recently a lot of houses were empty of decorations and occupants as some homes were for sale, leaving quite a few dark spots on the street. Obviously it's not a deal breaker as I understand people live their lives and the decorations are voluntary, but this year there was more empty lots than usual leaving my kids with a small ounce of disappointment. But that didn't stop us from enjoying what was there.
My recommendation to get the most out of your time there is to buy or bring some tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. Park and just take your time strolling through the streets and take in all of the hard work and time well spent. And who knows, if you enjoy it enough, it'll become a new tradition for you as it has my me...

It was particularly funny when on my way back up the street I saw 1 house with no lights (possibly no decorations, was hard to tell in the dark); not sure if that was on purpose (as like a talking point for tourists) or if there was no one home so they didn’t do decor that Christmas, or another reason entirely.
