Nice little park. plenty to do there and a pretty cool view of Joachim Creek from the park. Pretty good spot to take off on a bike ride and a nice little running / walking loop. There is a half basketball court but I don't feel the rim is at 10' but it is pretty close. There is also a nice little playground for the kiddo's there. If you are in the area and looking for a spot to relax in the Desoto region this is pretty good. Why three stars? The loop is very rough in spots and the park floods pretty regularly due to it's proximity to the creek. There is a lack of running water bathrooms but there are portable johns through out. It just feels a little run down and could use some upkeep and remodeling but again it floods fairly regularly. It's aesthetic is to be somewhat expected due...

I have brought my children to Walthers Park since my oldest was just a tot and before his brother was born . He learned to ride his bike at Walther's since we live on a hill and a busy road;; Walther's bike / walking trail is the perfect length for all ages to enjoy . It is a beautiful park and the creek is a favorite in the summer months for everyone . Fishing , wading , walking through the small rapids on the rocks , and watching the Heron's that also frequent Walther's Park . My only wish is that they had more playground equipment and another basketball hoop . The last flood took out the nice big playground we used to have and the one and only basketball hoop is always busy on a nice day . Overall this is a dig friendly and very relaxing , peaceful park for...

A nice park along Joachim Creek. The creek is shallow bedrock with good looking riffles. The opposite bank is natural. Would be better if they left a wider riparian zone instead of mowing so close to the water. They seem to mow often even if the grass is already short.

Smallmouth Bass are protected. Didn't see a MDC special management sign.

Unfortunately some people move rocks in the creek, disturbing the fish and other life forms.

Interior of the park has a paved path, usually with people even on weekdays. Be good at ending conversations because there are friendly people who will talk indefinitely.

The portable restrooms stink! The entire park has a nauseating chemical smell from them. Usually when I go there, they're emptying the restrooms,...

It is all you need for all of your adventures. For starters, it's beautiful year round. There's something for all age demographics. Stuff with straps for the very young. Basketball, baseball, volleyball, soccer, football etc... can all be played there. An amazing circuit for walking the dog or jogging or just strolling along with your person. It has a tree museum along it and they are enough to make anyone find a favorite. There's fishing and swimming in the creek. Pavilions for weddings or birthdays. A tribute to our nations fallen heroes. By yourself or with the whole family, just find yourself there and you just may find yourself a new regular hangout.

This is one of my favorite places. There's a path to walk, there's a ball field, there's an open field where you can run around or fly a kite. There's a basketball hoop, 3 playground areas, and even a fenced toddler playground. The river runs right there too it's a popular place to fish and it's even accessible for Adults and children to get in when it isn't flooded. Let's not forget about the covered picnic areas. They are a decent size for birthday parties or even a small family reunion. It doesn't have regular bathrooms but there are a handful of portapotties.

Love our Hometown park. Walking path, strength and stretching stations along the path. Tree Museum of historical live trees along the path. Amazing swimming hole in the creek that runs through the park. Playgrounds throughout, BBQ grills, pavilions, and fishing allowed.
