Smiley Park is on the west edge of Van Wert, north of the city airport. Unfortunately the street which most people travel to get to the park is under major construction . There are two other streets that can take you to the park in town. That's Woodland street and Main Street . Main St you have to drive West, take it to John Brown Rd turn left and drive south. There is a soccer complex that is before Woodland St continue to drive south to the stop sign and a dead end . Turn left on Lesson and Old Tile Factory Rd there are two entrances . These are the best entrances to the park . First one is for spectators and players for baseball, along with a shelter house for picnic and family gatherings. The Second drive is the main entrance to the park with another shelter house for picnic and family gatherings. A play ground area with restrooms and at least 4 baseball fields on location . If anyone is coming from out of town from the west take 224 to Old Tile Factory Rd east towards city limits you can't...
Read moreMy kids love this park from the butterfly garden, swinging on the swing for hours, playground is fun They have a flag football program and I created cheer program there for the sisters watching their brothers and providing a chance to learn about my favorite sport cheer! I donated about $400 a year in an eight-year span!
The hardest thing was dealing with some of the parents they were really rude and never would lift a finger to help or volunteer or form but they would run their mouth to ruin and destroy!! Which broke my heart! And the director sides with the families instead of the coach whose put so much love, effort, her time volunteering, her heart into all she did for her community! To be hurt by the ppl your trying to uplift..
They have baseball there's 2 covered picnic areas and tons of grass to run an play on:)
I currently use park to coach competition cheer ( I left the park department and started a competition team hoping to deal with different...
Read moreVery well maintained and very clean park! I was really impressed with how clean and well maintained the park is. Not 1 complaint about the park. 1 of the nicest cleanest parks I have ever seen! I live in Michigan and drove there for my nieces birthday party and couldn't asked for a cleaner or nicer park to see my nieces party be at and felt very comfortable to let my son run around and play without having to worry about anything. Very impressed. Whoever takes care of this park great job and keep up the good work! Will definitely be a park I will definitely visit again when coming down there to...
