This park is absolutely amazing! It is part of the Columbia River Gorge Renaissance Trail. Mount Hood can be seen in the distance behind the Glenn Jackson (I-205) bridge, which on a clear day is just stunning! Wintler Community Park is a 12.5 acre park with a public sandy beach, where you can spend all day bathing in the sun, or having fun on the river doing a variety of water sports. Lots of ships can be seen on the river since there is a marina along the paved trail from the parking lot. There are picnic tables, several viewpoint benches throughout, and clean restrooms. I saw no trash or litter of any kind, so please keep this pristine park in the same condition that you will find it in so everyone can enjoy the same experience as you. This is a great family spot; and yes, that includes your fur baby! šŸ• It is also a romantic spot with restaurants where you can eat and watch all of the action on the river, as well as the sunset. Birds can be seen everywhere, especially on the water. If it wasn't later in the day, I would have hiked a lot further. No worries, though, because I am definitely coming back with my husband. There is something for everyone here. You will not leave disappointed. I had a blast, and I highly recommend this park to anyone! I saw people of all ages enjoying this park. Do consider walking or biking the entire distance, not only for a good workout, but because it apparently connects to other parks, including Fort Vancouver Waterfront Park, Esther Short Park, Marine Park, historic sites with monuments, sculptures and educational exhibits, as well as shops and restaurants in abundance. Like I said: something for everyone! šŸ‘šŸ¼

This park sits along the Columbia River with a great view of Mt Hood. Apparently this is the only park in Vancouver that gives you water access. We got there just before noon so we were able to find parking. It wasn't super busy around 12:00 to 2:00 with more people showing up after 2:00pm. The weather was perfect not too hot with a little breeze. The water was a little cold at first. If you jump in it's feels amazing. Plenty of people in the water. There were people jet sking, sailing, and speed boating in the river. It's a dog friendly park as long as you keep them on a leash. Lots of children, great place for parents to enjoy a family day. The beach was clean with plenty of spots to chill out either out in the open with full sun or in the shade under the trees. We didn't leave until a little after 5:00pm. When returning to my car the parking lot was full. There was a Vancouver Police officer giving someone a parking ticket for not parking in the spot correctly. There were people waiting for spots to open up. It seems to get busy around 5:00pm and after. We didn't have to pay for parking or to access the park itself. Not sure how that works but we did enjoyed our time on the beach playing in the sand and cooling off in the river with my grandchild. I hope the next time it's as smooth as it was for us today. I would recommend this place to anyone especially if you have children.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. I am writing this in my car since I am upset. Parking fees will be enforced starting May 1st and go through September 30th. I love this park. I come here often to walk along the river and decompress after a long day at work. As of tomorrow May 1st there will be enforced parking of a $6 a day flat-rate option through the Parking Kitty App. This used to be free. I doubt the regulars who walk or jog here will pay that just to do their nightly decompressing session any longer. It would be worth it if you plan to spend a day here. And there are plenty of things to do to occupy yourself here in my opinion. But I will now be forced to find a new place to walk or jog nightly since this place and the waterfront now charge for parking. I feel bad for those that don’t have the funds to enjoy a little nature or the ability to download an app for parking their car (like the elderly, those without a smart-phone, or those that aren’t tech savvy). I will miss you Wintler Park unless you start to charge an hourly rate option, I will have to say goodbye for now. šŸ˜ž (would have rated 5 stars, but I removed one based on parking principle). I understand why fees are important to maintain parks such as these, but please consider offering a hourly option!

I've been going there for years. The park has been upgraded substantially over that time. The addition of Parking Kitty has made visiting the park much more efficient. I was just there (September 2025) and the fee is $6 per car. However. calling it a park is an over statement. I think there are only 2 picnic tables. This is a beach on the Columbia River on a very steep slope. It is very difficult to walk uphill in the hot sand carrying your belongings when you're leaving so if you have any ankle, knee, hip or back problems I recommend not going all the way down to the river. There are bathrooms that are open seasonally at the end of the small parking lot. The whole lot is rather small holding about 50-60? cars. This is NOT a place to swim. There's a sudden drop off that leaves you directly in the rivers current and open to the under tow. This is fine for wading, making sandcastles, splashing and picking up clams and shells but watch your children closely. There's very little shade so if your going early or during weekdays you're more likely to get a good spot. Otherwise, it's great for tanning if you're into that but I recommend bringing lots of sunscreen, water and a little pop up sun tent so the kids can get into the shade at least. Fun for watching the planes from the PDX airport, barges, boats and personal skiing watercraft. If you go prepared you'll have a...
