Nice place for a walk. And to take dogs (supposed to be on a leash). It's been rather dry this September and there are hardly any migrating birds now. It's much nicer at times when the wetlands are actually wet.
The posted signs say you are required to have a parking permit from the Oregon Department of Wildlife or and they say you can get one wherever fishing or hunting licenses are sold. I looked it up and they cost $10 per day or $30 per year. There were about 8 vehicles in the lot and some looked like they were occupied by unhoused people. There was a portable toilet in the lot, possibly for that reason. I doubt any of the vehicles actually had an ODW permit, unless they belonged to people that visit these...

Gunfire is all around due to hunters, perhaps bright colored clothing would be a good idea. Was surprised to see one needed to pay for parking with some sort of wild-lands permit, not sure what that's all about? There is wooden viewing platform that was fun, and evidence of critters, nutria, skunk along with the birding. Great...
