I’ve been a customer of Woods Family Farm for a few years now. I’ve purchased their chicken and chicken products, fresh eggs, honey, maple syrup and even their fresh turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner. I’ve even tried their lip balm made from bees wax. Trust me when I say that we have never been disappointed with our purchases. Most recently we purchased a half of a pig. We were a little apprehensive to order the pork as we weren’t quite sure how to decide what cuts we wanted and more importantly, as a family of 2 we weren’t sure if we could consume that much meat. Since my husband loves to smoke meat and usually does it for a crowd, we decided to take a chance and purchase the pig. The process was so easy. Julene Woods answered all of our questions and the butcher walked us through our options and made suggestions. We ended up with a nice variety of bacon, chops, hams, ribs, roasts and even brats. So far we’ve only tried the brats and they were delicious. We are looking forward to trying the rest of our selections. If you have been thinking about buying fresh farm raised meat, I highly recommend Woods Family Farms. It’s a healthier option than grocery store meat and tastes delicious. You won’t be...
Read moreWoods Family Farm is so unique it's hard to cover everything great about it! The kids learn about life and death. They learn about a hard day's work and getting something in return for your hard work. The farm tries to use what others would consider waste and put it to good use with either feeding animals, providing bedding, or replenishment for a garden. They are a complete family run farm that is not only helping show their kids the value in home grown and home raised but the community as well. They give tours for friends and family as well as schools and clubs. They are open about how they handle everything on the farm. They include the neighbors and community to see things first hand or even to help pick up a fresh chicken egg for the first time. They have volunteered their animals to churches, orchards, and other meetings or events happening locally. I'm proud to visit the shop and the farm and get some amazing products and get a friendly face when there. It's worth a visit and so much more if you are...
Read moreI got the chance to visit the Woods Family Farm and roadside stand while visiting family for the weekend. Our little detour did not disappoint! While we checked out all the goodies in the stand, Julene came out herself to say hi; the kids got a tour of the place and got to see all the animals. After a great visit, we left with two kinds of chicken sausage, some maple syrup, and lip balm created with beeswax from their own honeybees. It’s all amazing! We enjoyed the chicken sausage in a meal with homegrown veggies and polenta, the syrup is earmarked for pancakes, and the lip balm is now my favorite one. I’m excited for my next trip to visit family in northern Ohio and for another visit to the Woods’ stand to try for...
