Beautiful lake and well kept park and surroundings. Good place to go on a one day picnic.
Reach early - If you are planning to go to this place on a weekend, plan to get there early. The place opens at 8. I got there at around 7.50 on a saturday, and by then, there were at least 10 cars in the parking lot. They close down when they reach a capacity and do not allow entry even if you just want to go only on trails. Entry is free. Picnic spots - ample picnic tables available. Nice and shady as well, so you can enjoy the whole day here eating, cooking, swimming and on trails Lake - nice and beautiful. Not very deep and good for kids. Swimming permitted starting 10 am till 5pm Kayaks and boats - they have rentals, but don't do it every day. I think they don't give it for rent on weekends. Trails - there are a bunch of trails. The lake loop is pretty easy without much elevation. Takes around 3 hours to complete the loop with kids. Beware of mosquito attack. There are a lot. Bears - we saw a bear on the lake loop. It was taking the same trail route and ran away as soon as it heard us. I heard other people also had bear experiences. Parking - big space near the lake. There are other two...
Read moreI came here to go standup paddle boarding, it was nice calm waters. There is an area where you can rent kayaks and pedal boats. Motorized boats are not permitted. There is also a small subsection where they made a little beach and there is a lifeguard. The scenery was pretty. Lots of lily pads on the surface of the water through out different parts of the lake. There are a few little islands through the lake that you can stop for a rest. My only complaint was that there was too much vegetation in the water. Vines and seaweed so to speak. This was in many parts or the lake except the middle where it is obviously deeper. I usually like to get off my board for a quick splash and I didn't. Other than that it's fine to kayak or the rent pedal boats. I'm feeling fairly certain the "beach" swimming section didn't have the vines but I didn't...
Read moreIt is a beautiful park. While it does say there’s an entry fee, when I went there was no fee and a bunch of parking spots. The reason for the three stars is because I went here to swim and for me personally I didn’t want to swim in the water. I am from the country, so I understand earthy water. But I feel like the park could’ve had better water up-keep, or at least a net around the swim area to prevent so much build up. Other than that, it had kind people, beautiful views, good safety measures. It was raining when I went too and they allowed us to stay and wait it out until it passed as long as there was no continued thunder within a 30...
