We have visted on a weekend and a weekday. I recommend going on a weekend. Although this place is open to the public, the brunette receptionist was not very "visitor-friendly". She gave an attitude about having to block conference rooms for our self guided tour. Now, we know common sense and manners... we are visiting someone's place of employment during their working hours, we wouldn't just walk into any conference rooms regardless if there was a meeting or not. Which we told her, but she proceeded to smack her mouth while blocking the rooms and recited for us not to run, scream, be loud, etc and even pointed at our kids, repeating herself again. Walking around, on the weekday, the environment, the people there and vibe there became uncomfortable so we didn't tour as much as we would have wanted to. Besides the bad vibe with the receptionist and going on a weekday, this place is huge and what anyone can dream of. There aren't many interactive things for the kids to do but every campus is themed to wow the kids and adults. You are given a map guide. This is not an actual map but rather a direction guide. Some of the directions aren't very clear or understandable. We saw a ton of people, lost. If you go on the weekends, do not follow any directions for paths outdoor, as you are now off the weekend tour route and will get locked outside. The indoor route is provided as the other option, so follow those routes only. The route guide will only lead you to certain parts of the campus and not directly to the highlights on their visitors page. You would have to go off the route and be a little adventurous and willing to get more steps in if you want to look around. You will not be able to see everything in one visit. Pack water...
Read moreI wasn't sure what we had to do, and I found no answers in the reviews, so I called ahead before visiting. They're open for (free) self guided tours M-F from 2:30pm-5pm and on Sat/Sun from 10am-3pm. You don't have to call ahead to make any reservations or anything. If you park at the blue parking structure (navigate to visitors parking on google maps) then you walk across the "street" to Humpty Dumpty and go up the stairs and wait in line at the doors (they'll automatically open them for you when it's your turn to go in). One group goes in at a time to get maps and check-in/get name tags, it goes quickly, there were 4 big groups in front of us and we only waited 3 mins. You can scan QR codes while you're checking in, for more detailed instructions for each campus, and there's a QR code to connect to their WIFI. We were there for 4 hours and only made it through part of Central Park Campus, half of Storybook Campus, and 1/3 of Wizards Academy. While they do have things to see outdoors as well, this is all indoor, so if you go outside, the doors will automatically lock on you, but they do have a lot of bikes outside that you can use on campus. I know there were hoards of people there, but it's so big that you always feel like you're alone until you briefly run into a group. You can take the elevators or you can take the stairs/slides to the different levels, there were plenty of places to stop to sit/rest and I saw a few people with seated walkers and also kids in wagons/strollers. There are many bathrooms everywhere, but bring your own water bottle because I don't recall seeing fountains or vending machines. There's so...
