This trail head is the main trail; note that there are several others, including the Petroglyphs trail, which is the one I took this time. If you take that one, it’s. 4.1 mile moderate hike. Once you pass the petroglyphs, you’ll see a sign that says not a Trailhead; which is regarding the wash. Keep going crossing the wash. Just be careful, since the trail isn’t marked there, you’ll have to use your trail map or the trail app to be sure you’re on the right one. Go early to avoid more hikers or our slithery friends. The Scar is a good, demanding hike. The first 3.7 miles are very moderate mostly on a dirt road. The steep incline up the scar is about .7 miles and very challenging. Not for the beginner. Then descending is both challenging and painful for your knees and hips. Take it slow. The return hike took longer than the hike up. Total round trip is right at 9 miles from Lost Creek. Cool experience. Great little jaunt through the desert, within the city. The petroglyphs were amazing to see. Wear a sturdy hiking shoe or boot & sunscreen & hat. Shade is skimpy. & take drinking water. The trail is not well marked but GPS was helpful. ...
