From a camping/fishing point of view I would not recommend. The plant life is all around the lake where you basically have to fish over it. If you do that your line and hooks will most likely get caught on the plants and you'll keep having to cut the line. If you're lucky you'll get a camping spot that has about a two foot opening of no plants, which from the looks of it was rare. PLUS you have to pay $10 per day per person for a fishing permit to fish even if you have a fishing licens which was ridiculous because you can't even really fish. The restrooms are FAR. For some reason they have one in the RV section which makes no sense to me and then another even further which is closer to the 20s and 30s camp sites. We drove to the park restroom becaus it was "closer" still quite a ways if you have to use the restroom at night. The restrooms at night are full of ants everywhere. All over the floor, the sink, and even on the toilet paper. Plus theres 6 restroom stalls but only 3 were open. We didn't use the shower but one of buildings didn't have hot water but I'm assuming their other ones did. Also the bench seats were all bent in so if you sat down you're leaning forward. There wasn't even a fire pit like the picture online showed! All the money wasted there is defintely not going towards the camp sites. We were supposed to stay Friday May 27th and come back Monday May 30th but we ended up leaving Saturday May 28th because it was so windy our canopy broke and our tent was starting to tear. We left yesteday before it completely broke our tent and we would have nowhere to sleep. Our neighbors canopies broke to. I'm hoping for a refund but they told us to call back TUESDAY. We had also bought the permits for fishing in advance so that went to waste as well because we are home. I wouldn't come back for camping or fishing. The park looked very...
Read moreThis place is ok for a last minute camping trip. The campground was pretty clean, but the bathrooms were another story. The middle stall leaked and left a puddle on the ground that overflowed to the other two stalls. Being a woman, and trying to do the hover and pee, it was very hard trying to keep my pants from touching the ground and getting soaked as well. I understand it was a holiday weekend, but shouldn’t that mean someone should come out to clean them and restock them more? When we arrived on Saturday all the stalls had toilet paper but no seat covers, on Sunday, we noticed that only one stall had toilet paper and still no seat covers, Sunday night (we left on Monday) all stalls were out of toilet paper. So make sure you bring your own just in case. The lake was full of trash, but I’m not sure if that due to the random wind storms that would come through (very windy) or because it wasn’t cleaned. I think what annoyed us the most was the fishing. They say the lake is stocked every Thursday with catfish/trout/bass, but I think that is a lie. You can only fish from 7:30 am – 5pm, and catfish really come out at night. Every camp site we could see down the lake front (about 11-15 sites) had at least 3-6 poles in the water… how many people did we see catch a fish? 2… how is it that we have to pay a fee to fish to pay for the fish we catch when NO ONE is catching anything? Other than the fishing and lack of decent bathrooms, it is...
