We took a nature walk around Petrifying Springs in Kenosha, Wisconsin 👍🏻 This is a beautiful park that has a lot to offer for everyone. It is one of the oldest parks in the system and also features an 18-hole golf course ⛳️ It also features a dog park 🐶, hiking trails, playground, mountain bike trails 🚲 and many more attractions. If ever in the area check it out 🙂 #kenosha #wisconsin #explorewisconsin

Wandering Wisconsin, Ep. 14: Petrifying Springs Park. Known locally as "Pets," this park is a haven of flowing springs, forest trails and riverside calm. Once thought to hold petrifying powers, the springs still run clear — a quiet reminder of nature's enduring rhythm. #WanderingWisconsin #PetrifyingSpringsPark #KenoshaCounty #MidwestNature #WisconsinParks

When we were children, long ago, we loved hiking on the trails along the bluffs at "Pets". This past weekend, mid-April '23, was our first exploration of the well-maintained trails at this popular Kenosha County Park. It is fairly strenuous in some places. In one spot a recently-fallen tree had not yet been cleared from the path, and it was so big it was necessary to go around the root ball -- but there was no big danger. There are steps made of 6X6 pieces of wood, which are well-anchored and stable in the soil. There are places in some ravines that are fairly steep, and there are no handrails. There are other places in the park where elderly and wheelchair-riding folks can go for a leisurely tour on mostly level trails. We exchanged happy greetings with lots of people we had never met before, which is...

If you have been going here for years or are a newcomer, things have really changed. there are still hidden secrets so don't be afraid to venture off the beaten path as long as it's not during golf season and that path brings you into range of being brained by a golf ball.. You can do almost any activity here depending on the season. While the park may look scarce on trees due to the emerald ash bore many will be returning slowly over the years to come.. updated playgrounds for kids in an open safe environment are great for a quick afternoon relax or weekend picnics. Reseve large sites for big groups or overwhelm the grass on your own.. and they have a...

I love this park. It's long so it's excellent for taking a stroll or walk through done nice scenery. It has several rental pavilions for gatherings and three or four playgrounds. It also had a few sporting areas, I think a baseball and soccer field and hiking paths. They do have a dedicated dog park but I think you have to have a proper licence to let Rover run around so check before you let them off the leash. You can walk through the park with your power just fine if they are well behaved. They also have a beer garden during the summer if you fancy a little leisurely drink and snack. It's a great outdoor...
