Not sure why this area has the high rating. From the road there is a small pull off area, and encountered a large low swampy area devoid of lotus plants. The park area was a cleared space with a picnic table. Not inviting. The only area of lotus plants I saw was a ditch I passed next to the busy road. The utility company blocked off this area from one end with orange barrels. The other end of the ditch, no parking unless you want to park across the highway or pull into a gated area and walk along the street, all of which was difficult with the busy...

Beautiful when flowering (summer, usually) and definitely worth a stop. I didn't know about this place and did some research after. According to a VA Pilot article, some years are better than others and a sunny day produces more flowers. My pictures are from a very cloudy day. Parking is available in a small parking area directly off the shoulder of the road. Just beyond it, there is a clearing with additional parking and a small...

This is my favorite city put in to kayak out of......it offers some beautiful views along the waterway. The parking lot can be tricky if it's full, especially with Sandbridge road being so busy.....its not deep water here fyi. It can be shallow in areas and cottonmouths do live in these parts if you're fishing off the bank....just be warned. It cools off quick after dark, the mosquitoes will eat you alive and please...

I mean, I know it’s the end of the season and flowers are not in bloom right now, but this place is kind of lackluster for me. At least my dog could be off leash for a few minutes over in the field area. Traffic is kinda busy right there not much to look at four picnic tables and a swampy type area. I was afraid I was gonna pick up a dear tick. Although my drive to that area was very nice. I did enjoy the drive there and home.
