My three young kids and I visited to check out the bike pump track. There was a small parking lot with Porta potties nearby. To get to the playground and the track, we walked up a small hill following the trail past the large pavilion with picnic tables and charcoal grills. The playground was small, but shaded with a couple of benches around it. There was a lot of climbing equipment and a couple of things that spun. On the farther side of the playground was a basketball court, and just beyond that was the pump track. While the playground and basketball court were shaded around 11 to 12, the track was in full sun. Nonetheless my nine year old loved it! It was nice to have a playground area right nearby for the younger ones who weren't up to navigating the pump track. I was able to sit next to the basketball court and see both areas fairly well. We plan on going back to play and further check out the trail to the pond another time.

I took my dog here today and was not impressed. I didn't stay long and I probably didn't even see half of what is there. What I did see was a pathetic broken handicap porta potty that is so broken it would give the user no privacy. There's a covered patio that was in use today. I walked down with my dog to the pond and was going to walk around it. There is this weird concrete pattern with holes, I'm not sure if it's to prevent flooding or just to look good but it was not dog friendly. My dog didn't realize there were holes and kept stumbling on them. There's also a trail of some sort but it started off so steeply I didn't want to force my dog up the stairs.

Our first family visit was a short one. We had been out exploring all day and it was close to dark. We grabbed some pizzas and headed here hoping to find some picnic tables and we did. We had time to check out the pond and it was pretty cool. Well kept little area. We plan on taking the kids back to explore here when we have more daylight.

The pond and flora are very pretty. But because the trail around the pond is only a half mile, you have to walk around it several times to get any kind of a workout. The view from the dam is best. Half of the trail is paved and the other half is a natural surface. The side trail that connects to the Cross County Trail is unmarked and very rugged. It's a 10 minute walk from Brookfield Pond to the portion of the Cross County trail north of the Bryon Avenue park, but be advised that the terrain is difficult to navigate and likely...
