If you have found an animal and need assistance - I don't think this is the place that will help without judgment or involving the police.

Quite an interesting experience. We found two baby squirrels under the hood of a car at our repair facility - a friend networked and found this group - and notified them we would likely be calling soon as we didn't have the time to locate a rescue over the weekend. I knew my teenage child children would help care for them until relocation. When I did reach out Monday, she belittled and ridiculed how we had cared for them, without even asking any details of what we had done, and i immediately needed to take them to vet in Waynesboro, albeit my actual residence being in Chesterfield county. Her rudeness prompted me to tell her I would find another facility, and thanked her for her help. Shortly after - The State Wildfire Conservation Police called me to inquire about my intentions. Needed to say we shared a short laugh. Luckily - this agency was friendly and gave me resolution to my issues with a...

Been hunting here since the 1980s. Have done reasonably well with deer and turkey, and very well with squirrels. However, if you wish to enjoy hunting during deer season, understand that the local hunt clubs with their hounds will sweep in and run dogs through without regard to anyone that was hunting there before they showed up. The hunt clubs will hunt and shoot from the roads. I've seen them shoot anything and everything their dogs chase out of the woods, whether its bucks, does or fawns. Even foxes. On weekends and holidays, the hounds hunters simply make the place unbearable. There is next to no enforcement of WMA rules since there is only one or two DWR enforcement officers for the area between Hampton and Chickahominy. Hound hunting for deer and organized drives on this piece of public lands needs to be banned. The hound hunt clubs are destroying this area for...

We went camping here on the weekend of August 4th. We camped in the grassy area near the boat ramp. There was absolutely no shade for the majority of the day so the tent heated up like an oven! The fishing is pretty good.. Caught a few good size catfish. There is really no safe place for kids to swim here due to the boats that go speeding by. I decided to go exploring our last day there and found a couple camp sites that are way better than the one we were at. There are tons of awesome trails through the woods and some beautiful views! The ranger that lives there is awesome! He stopped and talked with us for about 20 min one evening while we were cooking dinner. I look forward to going here again on an adults only camping trip and going to one of the better camp sites. Make sure you take a bucket or a shovel because there are no restrooms. There are...

Found this place "by accident" a few years ago by following brown public boat landing signs along Route 5 - John Tyler highway between Williamsburg and Richmond. The first time I went and walked out on the dock there was such a BEAUTIFUL landscape of the river from left to right and it was so so soul-soothing quiet...I remember my heart whispering, "THIS is what PEACE SOUNDS LIKE " 😍 Today there was actually a small piece of a rainbow glowing to the left of the sunset. This is so significant to me personally since I lost my mother recently and ever since I have seen rainbows everywhere...even in places they just shouldn't be...and I was able to share that with my 80 year old dad who was on this trip with me today 💓

Boat ramp and parking area well maintained, but no restroom facilities are provided. Room for a decent number of vehicles with trailers. The pier is sturdy. I put in my canoe here and explored around the area, very quiet and calm water. Plenty of smaller streams to explore off the main creek if the tide is right.
