This is a well-maintained primitive campground with large/flat tent pads and nestled in between Chestnut Creek and the New River Trail. Note that the parking lot is several hundred feet away so you'll have to carry in whatever gear/supplies that you bring, because there is no vehicle access. Although other reviews mentioned noise coming from the parking lot, at least where I was (in site 4), I never heard that. The only thing I could hear was the creek and birds. We slept well.
Each site has a firepit, picnic table, wooden 6x6 hammock posts, and a metal trash/gear hanger. The firepits have cooking grates and firewood is available to buy from a park ranger. It was extremely rude of them to show up as late as they did and as loud as they were being when some of us were trying to sleep. Too close to the road also. The park is nice though, but I highly doubt I will ever stay here again or another campground ever again. I will stick to backpacking for now on. It is 10:27pm and 2 of them just rode their bike right behind my camp spot. Never again will...
