Dunncroft/Castle Point Park — Attraction in Virginia

This is one of my favorite playgrounds in this area and my favorite splash pad! Everything is slightly smaller than at say Deep Run or Twin Hickory, but it's a very thoughtfully laid out space.

The splash pad is entirely enclosed, and has a great variety of water elements. Super popular throughout the summer. There's two long aluminum benches for parents to sit on that have recently had shaded awnings added. Great summer fun for kids of all ages (from toddlers and teenagers)!

The playground us very accessible, especially for younger kids and kids with shorter legs or just ones not as big a fan of climbing. There are enclosed ramps to all four of the slides, including a low slide, a bumpy slide, and a swirly slide. There are six swings, and two bouncer toys. My just walking one year old was able to get around, and my two and a half year old LOVES this playground. It's also shaded, which is nice in the hotter months.

After a long stretch on the road with a restless toddler, we found the perfect pit stop—Dunncroft/Castle Point Park! It was like stumbling upon a woodland wonderland, complete with wide open fields, a dreamy splash pad, and a playground that could make any kiddo forget they’ve been trapped in a car seat for hours.

The splash pad was a blast—but if you’re not in the mood to wrangle soggy shoes and dripping clothes, the playground alone is a five-star experience. Slides, climbing, and plenty of space to run like a wild woodland creature!

And can we talk about the bathrooms? Spotless. Like, “Am I in a park or a hotel lobby?” level clean. That alone earned a round of applause from this...

When we went before school was out for summer it was very nice and peaceful and we had a great time. Yesterday it was extremely crowded with older kids dumping buckets of water over other kids heads and even on their personal belongings. People were running and screaming everywhere. My 3 year old got knocked into at least 3 different times, but luckily didn't get hurt. Older kids were in and out the gate going between the splash pad and play ground and let little kids get out the locking gate. I love this area because it is gated, but because people were letting the little ones in and out it completely defeated...
