A visit to Kinsale Museum was one of the most enlightening and enjoyable experiences I have had in years, and even though I have been considering it since the visit took place last Friday, April 30, 2021, and this is now Wednesday, May 3, 2021, I am still at a loss to express in words how enriching I have found the hours I spent there. Mr. Steve Turnage has expressed already the importance of the museum in Kinsale, and his description of Ms. Lynn Norris, the Museum Director, was the spur that encouraged me to visit. Some will find it curious that I did not on my initial visit photograph the museum itself--but again I must congratulate Mr. Turnage for having done so quite well two years ago, so that in driving into Kinsale at about 3 PM I recognized it immediately, and parked behind it as confidently as if I had arrived at my own home. Happily for me, Ms. Norris was in, and we were able to talk for a substantial period of time. Her recommendations for places to photograph were of course invaluable to me, and on my departure from the museum I set out to attempt to capture what I might before daylight was gone. What I did accomplish that day I attach below. And thank you, thank you, thank you, Ms. Norris, for your most generous sharing!

Wow. This small museum houses a history of Kinsale and provides a stage for the incredible talent that is Lynn Norris. Charming, vibrant, vivacious, and knowledgeable, Lynn is a gem. Her stories, love of Kinsale and familiarity with the history and centuries of citizens who pioneered on these Potomac Shores is worth whatever time one can invest. We stopped for fifteen minutes and stayed for three hours. We can't say thank you enough. I could feel the presence of my ancestors, Stephen Bayly and Peter Smith of Yeocomico....

This museum is the crown jewel of the village of Kinsale. Museum Director Lynn Norris is the driving force, master of ceremonies, historian, storytellers, newsletter editor, genealogist, and curator that makes this place a must see if you are in the Northern Neck. Make sure to time your visit when...
