I took my boyfriend and in-laws to Magnolia Vineyards for their first winery experience. They did not disappoint us! The entire experience was amazing. Tom made my reservation over the phone which we showed up an hour late to. They were still so accommodating and friendly despite our rude late appearance.
There was live music playing outside. There were so many people, many with their furry kiddos. We sat inside and could still enjoy the music while sitting in the air conditioning. We brought our own food which is allowed and welcomed.
The wine tasting was Covid-friendly and delicious. I love that they pair the wines with cheese and chocolate. It definitely takes the tasting to the next level.
And Maggie and Vinny, the resident dogs, add such a friendly and comforting aspect to the already amazing experience.
Our favorite wines were the Black Walnut White wine and the Battle Mountain Blush. Both are on the sweeter side but amazing. Their dessert wine, Pazzo, was also so scrumptious.
They made an incredible sangria from their Blush that is to die for.
I highly recommend this place. It’s a perfect way to end the day after hiking at Shenandoah or just to spend a lazy afternoon in...
Read moreWe stopped by this beautiful vineyard on our way back home from Luray. We were blessed with beautiful weather and this locale was the right place to enjoy it. There were not many people here today, and we were able to enjoy the nice views all around us paired with fabulous wines. Everyone who worked there was extremely personable and made us feel welcome and gave us a very nice experience. This place is dog friendly and offers indoor as well as outdoor seating. There is a patio area with tables as well as a gras area with various comfortable chairs. We started with a 10 flight wine tasting that came with cheese and chocolate. After that we got a 4 wine taster, which came with generous pours. The presentation and accompanying information was very nicely done and we enjoyed the selection. I really loved their cabernet and red blend. Really recommend...
Read moreA pleasant addition to some of the better vineyards in Virginia. New to me, but well established, Glenn has been making wine for the public for a decade, and has a fine, subtle touch crafting delicious wine with what the soil in the Virginia piedmont yields. Allison is a knowledgable and very hospitable guide in the tasting room, and the tidbits of cheeses and chocolate paired with the wines tastes were genius! As for the wines. the Black Walnut White blend and the Viognier stood out, as did the non-traditional Messick's Prarie View Strawberry sweet wine, a wonderful surprise! The reds were all well received, making it hard to pick a favorite, but I will highlight the Hawkins Run Red, a gently tannic Bordeaux-style blend, and the mellow yet complex Petit Verdot. Also notable were two well-made Cab Francs and the Pazzo, a semi-sweet blackberry/can...
