Boat access to Mountain Run Lake with appropriate permits; small dock by boat launch; I think that fishing is permitted, with license and per regulations; picnic pavilions and restrooms, although I don't know if the restrooms are open often, or have soap and water; grassy dog park; tall pine or related evergreen trees in some parts; a good playground that gets some usage in the evenings and on weekends; some swings. Beautiful lake and sunset views. Driving by, you might even see the mountains in the background.

I believe that it is maintained by a local charity group -- maybe the Lions Club. Not a huge park, but it's decent-sized and quite nice nonetheless.

Gravel parking, but I think that the roads are paved. Doable even in a low-clearance vehicle.

The first time you go, the entrances are along a hilly road, so you might miss the entrances. The main section has two narrow entry/egress lanes. I think that there is a third entrance for fishing as well. One of the entry/egress lanes is along a bit of a hillside. Try not to let it phase you too much if someone is coming toward you. Just drive slowly, and you'll probably do just...

I go to Mountain Run Lake Park mainly for fishing. While it once was a real honey hole, it has deteriorated over the years, I guess mostly due to overfishing. In addition to a VA state fishing license, one is also required to buy a Mtn. Run/Pelham lake fishing permit, and if you have one or more boats, you will need to buy a sticker for each one. Fishing permits and boat stickers each cost $20 for 2 years and are available at Town Hall on Main St.

The park also features athletic fields, picnic pavilions, a playground, a dog park, and lots of space for hiking and other activities. Boat rentals and bait sales are...

Sunday afternoon , the last one in October, clear skies and a warm sun enveloped our birthday party at the reserved shelter. All shelters were full and many people were enjoying this location. There's a small playground, a bathroom, lots of parking and plenty of shore access for fishing and boating. Dogs must be leashed. The shelter and picnic tables were in good condition. Trash cans had plenty of room for our parties disposable items. A pleasant surprise was the ice cream truck from Big Daddy'z ice cream came through. All in all a good day at this park. We'll return. 5 out of seven stars for a...

Lovely lake park outside of Culpeper, VA. It was brisk the day we visited, but this brought out an abundance of wildlife, including a number of waterfowl as well as a Red Tailed Hawk and a pair of Bald Eagles in the trees at the end of the lake. Only negative to our experience was the trash we found in the boat ramp area, left by some thoughtless park users. Otherwise, the park was quite pristine.

What a fantastic park! There are tennis courts, kayak loading areas, playgrounds, and beautiful views. I’m looking forward to coming back. It’s also conveniently located within 15 minutes from local stores in the case you forget to bring items. Please note, if you don’t reserve a shelter there is no picnic area or grill availability.
