Pleasant Valley Golf Club – A Hidden Gem Reclaimed I had the opportunity to play Pleasant Valley the other day, and I’ll be honest—I wasn’t expecting much. Based on some older reviews, I anticipated average conditions and an average day. But what I found was something completely different. Pleasant Valley is back—and better than ever. From the very first tee box, it was clear the course is being cared for at a high level. The fairways were pristine, greens rolling true and quick, and the rough was lush yet fair—not bumpy or patchy like you'd expect from a typical public course. It honestly felt more like a private track. One highlight? A stunning sunset over one of the par 3s—absolutely Golf Digest cover-worthy. The back nine, with its lush landscaping and almost tropical plant life, gave off serious Florida vibes, which made for a unique and enjoyable round. What made it even better was the great company—but even if you played solo, the course itself delivers. In terms of public courses, Pleasant Valley is punching above its weight. I'd go as far as saying it’s currently the best course on the block. Frankly, it puts Chantilly to shame, especially when you consider the fact that PV is public and Chantilly claims to be private. Final verdict: 5 out of 5. If you haven’t played it lately, it’s time to go back. The outdated reviews don’t reflect the current experience. Pleasant Valley has truly stepped up, and it deserves the recognition.

I don’t normally write reviews unless I have an over the top great experience OR very substandard/mediocre experience. My buddies and I were excited to play Pleasant Valley for the first time but were pretty shocked to see how awful the conditions of the course were. The tee boxes had literal weeds growing out of them, (so did the sand bunkers) the fairways had huge craters in them and the greens were brown, chunky and patchy. I wouldn’t normally write reviews about these issues because I understand that they get played a lot—the reason why I’m writing a review is because we paid $100 EACH to play 18 holes and I haven’t played at a worse looking course in over 2 years. This course should have been $50 MAX. The tee times were also not far enough apart so we were squeezed the entire time and we’re told to hurry up even though we were playing at a faster than normal pace. Side note: no water jugs at any hole either so make sure to bring a huge bottle before you arrive. The staff was friendly but I will not be spending $100 here for a round ever again.

My first experience at Pleasant Valley GG, and unfortunately, if I could, I would give this Golf Club a half a star. The property is not properly maintained, the club does not properly manage their tee times, and basic amenities were missing altogether. Providing an unpleasant and stressful experience for my friends and I. As this is a public course, there is a certain standard you must accept. However, for a price of $102.00 each, one would expect a certain level of care for their course and the people who play on it. Every hole on the course was ill maintained, where weeds and tall grass took over tee boxes and fairways. The greens were as patchy and barren as the Mojave Desert. Once you prepared yourself to take a swing out of an uncomfortable lie, you could feel the tension from the group ahead and behind as they want the pace of play to start picking up. I have never experienced something so poor that I had this sense of urgency to write a review, please save your $102.00. It is better spent elsewhere.

Pleasant Valley Golf Club – A Hidden Gem Reclaimed

If you have read any reviews of the course, they are fairly accurrate about the condition of the course. Granted we had short term heavy rain, but this course doesnt drain well.

Aside from the drainage problem, they have a pretty close to 6 or 7 deplorable tee boxes. I specifically mean that the grass is TORE UP or non existent. If there is grass on these boxes, its weed crab grass in patches. The other bad boxes are covered in seed sand.

So here is where I am going with this. I got an $88 online tee time. I live in Fairfax. I habe the choice of about 10 courses within 30 min of me. How about some good customer service and say something like, the course has a lot of water and we need to keep the carts on the path at all times. The tee boxes arent in great shape, but we are going to give you 15 bucks off today...

Would $75 be bad to the course? If no one is on the course, nothing is made. If someone is on there and doesnt feel like the got ripped off they may come back.

The course with minimal work could be an excellent course. Right now its a place I would go to if they had a great deal at the time I wanted to play, maybe. I have a picture, but dont know...

My experience at Pleasant Valley Golf Club on August 24th was shockingly unprofessional.

At check-in, the staff mistakenly charged us for only one player instead of two. We acknowledged the error with the starter mid-round and agreed to pay the balance afterward. Yet when we came off 18, an employee (Lucas) ran out, accused us of trying to sneak off without paying, and made inappropriate remarks like “I’ve seen people like you before that try to run off without paying” and later on “Do you want to kiss me?”

This was their mistake, not ours. We went straight inside and immediately paid the difference.

The GM (Chad) later admitted fault, apologized, and said it would be a “training opportunity,” which I appreciated. But when I asked for a written apology from the staff member and confirmation of process improvements, I was told to just accept the GM’s apology and move on.

Mistakes happen, but accusing paying guests of theft over your own billing error — and then refusing reasonable accountability afterward — is unacceptable and leaves me with no confidence this won’t...
