Tony and I went to Roaring Run Furnace In the Jefferson National Forest. This is a stone Built Pig Iron Furnace built in 1830. This 192 yr old construction is still standing
There is 2 trails to the waterfall. We took the shorter trail that winds around the creek Banks and crosses a few bridges. The water was moving rapidly over large rocks. Very nice path but lots of roots.
The park was easy to find with GPS. It is free to enjoy. Plenty of parking and restrooms. Well marked trails. The Furnace is located about 500 feet from the parking lot and bathrooms. There is plenty of picnic tables and a creek for fishing and cooling off in warmer weather. There is also a waterfall to hike to!! Nice park and highly recommend especially for the historic value! Great day trip or field trip for...

Then we head down for the next sliding rock. Spend a good portion of our time there, then head down to the final sliding rock. The last sliding rock is a little more intense. But it's fun for the whole family with varying levels of slides. Also, the trails are great. The waterfalls are beautiful. We highly recommend for...

Not a difficult hike, but just be wary of your footsteps...... it's not a pleasant fall if you lose your footing. Make sure you bring water, and hit the head before taking this picturesque stroll. You'll definitely want to spend time taking pictures, a quick dip in one of the natural pools, and hike one of the trails that forms off of the main path. Please remember to pick up any trash that you bring, and please keep your children quiet. Other people are there for the scenery...
