Here at Firefly, we love to celebrate stillness - those small moments that you otherwise wouldn’t notice out in our noisy world. ✨❣️ #fyp #treehouse #uniqurairbnbs #alabamatok #cranehill #stillness #thelittlethings

My family and I went for two days just as a small camping trip. The front office was very nice and accommodating. Setting up the camper was easy. The park was pretty quiet. In general, most dogs that people had were kept on leashes and stayed around their owners, and people were friendly. The bathrooms were decently clean as well as the showers. We did attend the pool, which was 5 dollars a person. It's not a horrible price. The pool was pretty big, had some diving bords and a lifeguard watching, but it was a bit dirty. They had some food and pool toys they were selling. That was nice but the workers didn't seem as friendly as the front staff was but they did all look to be teenagers. We also went paddlebording out on the lake. It was easy to drive the truck up close to the shore to unload our things and get situated. It was a bit hard to find the entrance to the lake. You have to exit the park and then take an immediate left to follow that road around and down by the lake. It's a bit weird to have a huge fence around the whole park and not have easy access to the main attraction. They do have a gate that you can cut through, but it's always locked. Other than that, I dont have much to complain about. It was quiet and not very busy when I went though so you might have a different experience. If you stay for more than a weekend it might get a bit boring they only really have the lake the pool and mini gold which didn't look very interesting to us. The photo I included is a picture of my boyfriend and our dog in the lake.

We shouldn't have book our camper vaca on July 4th, so that's on us... other than that, this place (as far as camping) is the worst we've been too. They make you drive around the "loop" to get to the campground - which again, 4th of July weekend was packed and LOTS of people just there for the other fun. During the tour we passed 18-20 sheriff cars and tactical RV/command post (ok, this isn't looking good). I get you have extra security during an event, but if this was needed, we're in the wrong place. We get to the actual campgrounds and they are STACKED in like sardines. No pads, just grass (and not even mowed for the 4th weekend). Tight roads and 90° sites, makes it hard for 30'+ TT to park. But the BIG thing is... all the sites had ditches down the roads with narrow culverts for your parking. That's bad enough, but ours didn't have the culvert, just the 3' deep ditch. NO security gate... so anyone of the 50k people at the concert/event can just walk through the campground all day/night. We love camping and thought this would be nice with the lake and the fireworks as a bonus, but this is NOT camping - its more like tailgating. They say they don't offer refunds, but since we couldn't even park in there, they did send our money back - giving them a star for that. Add a gate, and better grounds and more room and it might be a nice place... for now, stay away unless you like that kind of thing.

Our Tax Dollars is what keeps smithlake Park open. Now they have a gate to get in and out of a public park that we pay for. First let me say I understand the 10pm lock down on the park up during the day as tax payers we should be able to enter as we want. Yesterday went to park to basketball court with my boys and got in but then could get out because I don't have a code to a public park. So called the after hours number got 20 questions how and why I was in park and didn't have the code. I was told park office closes at 430pm so my question is most people work until 5pm and we can't get a code if their gone by430pm. To enter a public park paid for with our tax dollars. I have been going to the park for over 40 years never been like this other than the 10pm lock down. Gate should stay open until 10pm so we the citizens of Cullman County use the park without problems. 2nd problem I have with a bad ran park. People wood use the pool in the the afternoon if it didn't close at 5pm . News alert for commission people work and get home to spend time together with family but most don't get home until around 5pm and could use for a few hours in return would make more revenue for the park. But no it's locked down like jail. So many people visit the park from out of town and see it's at the bottom of all parks in Cullman County and has more room and opportunities to be best park in the state. Plus the pool even has lights. If you don't know commission it don't get dark til around 8pm. More money for the park. Only public park I know of with a gate system during day...

My boyfriend and I are traveling the states, we planned to stay here for a week, sadly that didn’t work out. We only stayed for 3 days and we honestly did not like it from the beginning. The first night we pulled in, there was literally a meth head (or some sort of person on a strong drug), parked at the bathroom that literally sped away as soon as they saw us pull up, it happened multiple nights after that with different cars because the camp host does not do their job, they’re pretty much a waste of time. The facilities are nasty, neither of us felt comfortable to take a shower. Quiet hours are a waste of time, we had someone wake up at 2 in the morning, blaring music. This is NOT a campground you want to be at if you want seclusion at all, like any at all. The pictures online of the actual campsites are extremely deceiving. They made it look like there was space between campsites, with lots of trees and there was not. The campsites are ridiculously close, like you are literally right on top of your neighbors (literally tent to tent with people). The workers there know that the campgrounds are small and even when there’s lots of availability they still choose not to spread you out. You are not able to choose your own spot, even though they wanna say you can. We have been to MULTIPLE campsites and have never encountered one that we were this disappointed in. We understand that it’s a public campground, but we did expect better. The only decent part, it is cheap. We see now why it’s so cheap and after staying there, it makes sense. Overall, do...
