Stone Tower Winery is an absolute gem nestled in the heart of Loudoun County. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by stunning vistas of rolling vineyards that create a perfect backdrop for an unforgettable winery experience. What We Loved: Scenic Beauty: The panoramic views are breathtaking. Whether you’re relaxing on the terrace or wandering through the vineyards, the scenery is a photographer’s dream and makes for a serene and relaxing visit. Outstanding Wines: Stone Tower offers a diverse selection of wines that cater to a variety of palates. The tasting flights are well-curated, allowing you to explore everything from their crisp whites to their robust reds. Our favorites were the Wild Boar Sauvignon Blanc and the Hogback Mountain Reserve – both were complex and beautifully balanced. Welcoming Atmosphere: The staff here are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. Their warmth and hospitality make the tasting experience both educational and enjoyable. They’re more than happy to offer recommendations and share stories about the wines and the vineyard's history. Lovely Facilities: The winery’s layout is thoughtfully designed, offering plenty of space for both indoor and outdoor seating. The rustic yet elegant architecture blends perfectly with the natural surroundings. The terrace and patio areas are perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying a leisurely afternoon. Event-Friendly: Stone Tower is also a popular venue for events, and it’s easy to see why. The well-maintained grounds and beautiful indoor spaces make it ideal for weddings, parties, and corporate events. Tips for Visitors: Plan Ahead: Weekends can be busy, so consider making a reservation or arriving early to secure a good spot. Picnic-Friendly: Feel free to bring a picnic – there are plenty of areas to enjoy a meal with your wine. Family and Dog-Friendly: The winery is family-friendly, and well-behaved dogs are welcome in certain areas, making it a great spot for a family outing. Overall, Stone Tower Winery offers a delightful blend of top-notch wines, scenic views, and a welcoming ambiance. It’s a must-visit for wine lovers and anyone looking to experience the beauty of Virginia wine country. Cheers!

A friend and I wanted to come to Stone Tower for a nice day out, but were disappointed in many areas. We were excited by the view on our walk over to the tasting bar, but were immediately shut down. The moment we stepped up the to the bar, the worker had a strange energy to her, almost as if she didn’t want us there. I have no idea whether this is typical of her or if we weren’t being taken seriously due to our ages (we are 22 and 23, but are frequent bar and brewery customers, as well as good tippers!). We were not really greeted, so much as asked what we were doing looking at the menu. For context, we had just stepped up to the bar and barely had any time to look at anything! Her attitude felt impatient and we felt pressured to choose something. Having experienced tastings that are more similar to flights at other places, we decided to try that. This is not the case at Stone Tower. Again, the worker appeared annoyed at us and informed us that we were in the wrong place (at the front of the bar instead of the side) and that we needed to move over. She was not excited or enthusiastic about our interest in the—frankly expensive—tasting. Another group appeared behind us as we were moving over, a group of 4 people. The worker basically sighed, and without asking my friend and I, added the 4 people to our tasting. To make matters worse, the worker poured my friend and I less than the other group, only attended to them and rarely spoke to us about the wine process (which we paid to hear!). It made us upset because we were interested and wanted to know about the wine just as much as the other people. We paid exactly the same amount as them and did not receive the same attention or service. Big shame, because the Pinot Noir was absolutely fantastic. We were not the only people that this worker was rude to. There was a gentleman who nicely attempted to order food at the bar and was instantly made to feel horrific for it. She dismissively informed him that he could not order food at the bar, her tone implying he was stupid for thinking he could. Aside from our disappointing tasting, the winery was packed with children. I am an educator, I have no problem with well-behaved children in public spaces. Stone Tower appeared to have little to no control over the masses of unattended children. They climbed trees shirtless, played ball games on the lawn (which, according to Stone Tower’s website, is not permitted), got in our faces and messed with our chairs, took cushions off and moved surrounding seats, and were overall left to run amuck. All while the adults sat and drank. There was one worker with longer blond hair who we spoke to. He seemed to share the same sentiment as my friend and I, but didn’t have the ability to enforce anything or chose not to. Completely disappointed with the entire experience and will not be returning.

Mediocre at best! While I don't consider myself an expert on wineries, I've been to a quite a few over the past couple of years. We started doing more of these when Covid came around. This was an awkward experience. They have the wine and food area separated, which is OK I guess. Both wine and food areas automatically charge a 20% tip, which you can cancel, but the machine "froze a bit" during both areas, so I left it alone. What irritated me is that you get no service, the food you have to pick up yourself, you have to clean the table yourself after you're done, including take the trash to the trash cans, and the wine area, selling way over-priced wines (for a Mom & Pop place), the gentleman (Alex), and I use the term loosely, has an attitude. When I asked if they had a sweeter wine, he looked at me like I had two heads and stated that all Rose's are dry, which def. isn't true. Further, when I bough the most expensive Cab on the menu, which wasn't a cab at all, but a mix, after opening the bottle and one single pour, the bottle had a ton of sediment which again, the "expert" started arguing about instead of just replacing the bottle. The table next to us had the same bottle, and no sediment at all. Food-wise: terrible! The $25 meat and cheese platter has one meat (proscuiotto) which is about 4 slices, some chewy pickles and some olives, and jam. We later, after finishing the dish, found out that they forgot to give us the crackers. The lady had left the crackers on the serving area, since she couldn't bother to bring it to our table.. on a $250 tab, which we were more or less forced to pay a $50 tip. To walk 45 seconds to drop off our crackers which they forgot was out of the question. We also tried the chicken sandwiches, stale and tasteless, the hot dog had a pound of onions on it, the berry and chèvre bowl was basically a bowl of spinach with four berries... Just terrible. In summation: close to $600 later, we went home with our tails between our legs. Plenty of other places you can try that have waiters and provide an actual service, and don't charge these prices. Again, money isn't the issue, but there is alway a basis for comparison. You can't and frankly shouldn't offer beer for champagne prices.

I have very mixed reviews on Stone Tower. The buildings are gorgeous, and the views are spectacular. We went late afternoon, and were rewarded with a spectacular sunset. However, there were also some spectacular disappointments. First, we pulled into the "Tasting Room" area, but were told to leave because we had our 12 year old son with us. We were told that we had to go over to the original tasting room. We needed to get back in our car and drive 100yds or so down the road to a separate parking lot. We did so, and although the views were amazing, it is more complicated. You have to order food in one spot, tastings are in another. You CANNOT have food at the tasting bar. Our server leading our wine tasting could have been replaced by a much more engaging wet sponge. They have great outdoor seating, but you must make sure you have the right wine glasses if you want to go outside. It's not that they don't want you have glass outside, it's merely they want only one type of glass outside (huh??). Honestly, it's very officious for a winery. Then there were the wines. As with most Virginia wineries, the whites were better than the reds. Of the 6 wines we tasted, the three whites were all good, but the three reds were not. The best of the reds was a Malbec, which were not Stone Tower grapes. The other two reds were grapes they grew/harvested, but they were terrible. Also, this place is way over priced. Tastings were $25 each and the reds were almost undrinkable. We ended up ordering 2 glasses of white for $17 a piece. Loudoun wineries tend to be on the expensive side, but this place was over the top given the bad service and wine. Overall, I really wanted to like this place more, and probably would have given it 4 stars if it weren't for the experience . The venue is awesome, but the service and wines are not. There are 30+wineries in Loudoun, for your money and time, there are much better choices.

We came here on a beautiful hot but breezy Sunday. Surprisingly, there weren't many people here, but to be fair, we arrived at 11am. The scenery is just amazing. The staff in general were extremely friendly and inviting. The tasting room is located in the red barn. We walked up to the tasting counter and asked if we can sample 2 wines before buying the bottle. We sampled a red and white wine, and they gave us separate glasses for each. Once we ordered the wine bottles, they then provided 6 additional glasses, 3 for each bottle. We bought 2 bottles: 2023 Sauvignon Blanc ($39) and 2021 Wild Boar Cabernet Franc ($52). Both were perfect for the weather and occasion. They offer food at this winery for purchase, as well as snacks in the next building. We ordered 2 pizzas: Margherita ($18) and Hogback ($24). The pizzas were very doughy and flimsy, but the Hogback was very tasty, the Margherita was very lacking on the cheese and so wasn't too tasty. I didn't get a chance to really tour the barn and see what was there, as we were on a mission. There were a good number of tables/chairs in the barn area. There were also plenty of outdoor seating under a solid gazebo, and some seating with flimsy covering. We were unsure about the rain, so we chose the solid covering...but then gravitated toward the rocking chairs (!!!!), which overlooks the rolling hills and mountains. There is also a wedding venue, which we were able to view from our seats. Since we were outdoors, they allowed kids and pets. For me personally, bringing my own food and buying the wine is part of the enjoyment. I don't want to be forced or limit myself to pizza or a Charcuterie Box or a separate items that would normally be included in a charcuterie box. There is a long windy gravel road from the main road to the winery. Just be cautious if driving a low or nice car :). Would I return? Probably, the views were everything.
