Waid Recreation Park — Attraction in Virginia

Great park, good facilities. Good for dogs. Excellent River access for tubing. Also the restrooms are clean and in excellent condition. An excellent investment of County money. We love it here. They have a .74 loop trail with pea gravel that is flat and easy for all skill levels. Many mountain bike trails and hiking trails. They offer a disc golf course. There are trails for horseback riding. In the warmer months, you can rent a tube and float a section of the river. Clean park but dog owners need to do a much better job of cleaning up after Fido. I went to this county park along the Pigg River to birdwatch because it is an eBird hotspot near my sister's home. It is a very interesting and diverse park. The Carolina Road ran through this property centuries ago. The county has developed portions of the park to offer sport fields, a disc golf course, picnic areas, hiking trails, and a childrens' playground. And the birdwatching opportunities...
